Vacancy has a cool story but is a little tight on the old gore.Frank Whaley was good in it.

Did a quick search for something like a trailer for it on YouTube... Found this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwzb8Q8YizkI will admit, it does look a hell of a lot more suspenseful than most of today's bullshit horror. But there are already 2 huge strikes against the movie. #1: "based on true events" - who the fuck wants to watch a horror film as entertainment if they know that rooting for someone's death means you're insulting an actual once-live/living person? And why make a horror film about it? Horror films aren't made to show respect to real living people, not when we're enjoying someone's terror. Plus, we know the only reason movies like this and Wolf Creek are billed as "based on true events" - because that piece of shit Blair Witch Project did it and they think that's what made that film so successful. Now, you know a film that's said to be true is already pandering to the audience. That is beyond insulting. #2: the masks. What the fuck? First of all- we see way too much of the masks, especially in the trailer. Giving away, clearly, shots where we see the masks and the potential victims don't. What the fuck? Second, they look stupid. And seeing too much of something that looks stupid doesn't help the film's sense of tension. I don't know how the actual movie will make up for these flaws. I doubt it will.

to be fair alot of movies say based on actual events....and i doubt most are..and even if they are what imsure what actually happened is nothing like what happens in the movie
and the mask thing didnt really bother me at all
but like you said it looks pretty suspenseful and i think is deff worth a viewing

I'd rather see "masks" than mutated hillbillies anyday.

i actually forget what the guys looked like, there were 3 guys and i think all 3 were normal looking, 1 may have been deformed tho.. thats actually a movie i need to check out again.. i was shocked that it was actually a good horror movie and not pure trash..it was dark, violent and even had some suspense

Dark and violent? If you mean dark like I think you do, that describes every horror movie made in the last 9 years, pretty much.

not really.. most horror movies in the theaters have the stupid pg-13 hollywood feel.. this one didnt, it had a darker more grim type of feel to it

The Strangers? It stars Liv Tyler. That's as Hollywood as a horror movie can get.

you dont know untill you see it
house of wax starred paris fucking hilton, which is why i expected nothing more then some generic hollywood rubbish.. but it was anything but that..
the strangers looks like it can be a very good suspenseful horror movie. its not a remake. its not pg-13 and it looks good.. cant really ask for anything more then that as far as horror movies go in the theater

you dont know until you see it I've already seen part of it (the trailer). And I'm smart enough to know part of it works and part of it does not. I'm glad I know that it's not going to be the savior for the genre. There you go. house of wax starred paris fucking hilton, which is why i expected nothing more then some generic hollywood rubbish.. but it was anything but that.. I'm happy (now) that I watched that E! thing about Paris Hilton. Her film career (ha ha) started with independent films. So, there's nothing Hollywood about her. Nobody in Hollywood would let her be in their movie (except Ben Stiller - she was in Zoolander). And she had done at least one horror movie before House of Wax. Plus, she's doing Repo! The Genetic Opera. Another anti-Hollywood horror film. the strangers looks like it can be a very good suspenseful horror movie. its not a remake. its not pg-13 and it looks good.. cant really ask for anything more then that as far as horror movies go in the theater Hey- you said you know remakes are bad movies. I'm surprised.

im not looking for it to be the savior for the genre.. just a good movie
paris hilton is hollywood.. she may not be in many big movies but that doesnt change the fact that she is
and yes most remakes are dumb, expecially the ones made now, but there are some good ones, im just tired of everything being a remake

paris hilton is hollywood.. she may not be in many big movies but that doesnt change the fact that she is Sorry, but you're wrong. There's a difference between filthy rich and actually appearing in big-budget Hollywood films. George W. Bush is rich, are you going to convince me that he's Hollywood. How about Rupert Murdoch? He's obscenely wealthy- are you going to tell me Fox News is Hollywood? Ask the other members of this board if they think Fox News is Hollywood. Go on... Ask them. and yes most remakes are dumb, especially the ones made now, but there are some good ones, im just tired of everything being a remake As are we all. And yeah... There have been good remakes. But they were all in the '80s.
