Well, you must have much lower standards than I do. Because I just can't give the film credit for anything more than looking good.

But...but...but... There was nothing enjoyable about the movie except for the way it looked. What could you possibly have liked about it? I can't even imagine. Clue me in, if you can.

i just thought it was an entertaining movie...i love movies like that where you have a crazy backwoods family of psychos killing people...to me a movie that entertains me is good..if it doesnt entertain me its bad..while not everyone may agree with that..that is how i see it..you can have some huge budget horror movie and a low budget movie..the big budget movie may be shot better, look better, have better acting..but if the low budget movie is more entertaning i will call it a better movie

I completely agree with tsmooth. I mean, movies are supposed to be entertaining, and that's what "House of 1,000 Corpses" was.

But...but...but... There was nothing enjoyable about the movie except for the way it looked. What could you possibly have liked about it? I can't even imagine. Clue me in, if you can. For me there was tons of other things other than appearance that was enjoyable about the film. I thought that Zombie's debut flick had some of the best characters in a horror film in a long, long, time. Each of the baddies had their own unique style and characteristics and were very well thought out. Not to mention that they were perfectly cast and well executed. Sid Haig's & Bill Mosley's performances were fantastic imo. I also thought the film was nearly perfectly paced. There's never a moment or scene where the movie drags as there's always something going on to hold your interest. I also liked that the movie steadily crescendos as it goes along, spinning farther and farther out of control from reality. And the gritty/strange transitions used to move from one scene to another added not only a unique element, but also doesn't allow the viewer to any moment where they can exhale and relax. It's just such a well constructed movie imo. For me not only was this film a lot of demented fun, but was a breath of fresh air into the horror genre at a time when it was badly needed.

Oh, C'MON People! You know I'm not slighting this movie because it's not big-budget. I'm not an idiot. It would have stunk if the budget was twice as big. Because the cast stunk, the dialogue was so bad it physically hurt (like bleeding ears) to have to listen to it, and the ending is one of the biggest monumental turkeys in low-budget horror film history. And what's worse? That with all of Rob's background in loving fun low-budget flicks, this was the best he could come up with? A stupid clownguy whose jokes are all about shitting and chicken or whatever (this guy doesn't say one clever thing in the entire movie), a bimbo-ey sexpot with a high-squeaky voice (and again, nothing clever or amusing to say), an old and sad underusage of Karen Black, and a Bill Moseley performance so bad that I swear I'll never watch another one of his movies again (I might make an exception for Devil's Rejects - as long as it's different from this movie - believe me, a 2-Thumbs-Up from Ebert and Roeper makes quite an impression!).
Honestly, to find this movie entertaining, you would have to have no taste, no standards, and be seriously drunk or high during the viewing. It was that bad.

We know, Lazario. You didn't like it. People have different tastes. You're not going to convince anyone. He can't handle people having a different opinion, and he's the only one allowed to insult a movie.. Haven't you realized this yet? He's a stubborn, narcissistic, nit-picker and a pseudo-intellect. Everyone online thinks they're better than the majority of "sheep" living on earth and that there opinion is somehow fact.

Yeah, but you don't understand Why I don't like it. And I don't understand why you don't like Maniac while loving a bunch of movies that are 10x worse. Get over it punk!

Biscuit, shove it. You're NO better than I am. And at least I have explanations to back up my claims. See the difference between us is i KNOW I'm not better than anyone else, and I know my opinion is not the be-all end-all. BTW just because you have an explanation doesn't make the movie bad and doesn't mean people can't like it.
