For younger horror fans, Hostel probably blew them away.Shit, I'm a veteran and I was amazed at what they did, theater release and all. What "bad" were the guys doing in Hostel anyway? They were looking for no-strings-attached fun and got that and more. Movies like this are good for the genre because they open people up to what they might have never seen before and gives us,the Vets, a chance to turn them on to other things.

I watched No Country for Old Men again. It's one of my favorite movies. The brutality, fantastic acting, engrossing dialogue, and surprising touches of black humor make this film a winner.

What did you not like about it? I'm going to guess the ending. That seemed to upset quite a bit of people.
Now tell me, what's the most you ever lost in a coin toss?

They were looking for no-strings-attached fun and got that and more. Movies like this are good for the genre because they open people up to what they might have never seen before and gives us,the Vets, a chance to turn them on to other things. I explained that on the page before. My very last post on the page before this one. You'll find it by searching (Ctrl + F on your keyboard oughtta do it) for "Look at all." It's in that paragraph. you've seen clips from The Mist you say? So you haven't even seen it! Your entire argument falls apart right there. also, i know saw didn't have any subtext because movies don't have to to be good. it was entertaining to me, so therefore i liked it. Shunty, my argument is that CGI used to create a monster in a movie ABOUT a monster is going to ruin the movie. No matter how good the plot or characterization are. You kind of need to address that if you're going to say my argument "falls apart." So... Try again. Saw may have been entertaining to someone who likes shit on TV like C.S.I., but it wasn't entertaining to someone who likes fun movies, dark movies, smart movies, scary movies, good movies... I think that pretty much covers everything. Saw lacked everything that would make a horror movie good. I'm not saying you can't find it entertaining. But... why would anyone even say it was entertaining in the first place? i hate cgi as much if not more then you laz, but the mist was a great horror movie, sure most of the cgi looked like cgi but i was able to overlook it because the movie was good Well, CGI bothers me when it's being used to create a monster in a monster movie, or a character like The Hulk in a serious drama. I can't take the movie seriously if there's a big stupid COMPUTER in a live-action movie. It doesn't work like that. I also have a problem with CGI blood. But I don't hate CGI altogether. Like I said before, they used it really well in the first season of Masters of Horror and in Ichi the Killer, it was kind of a funny movie anyway. They only used it in 1 scene. So the people responsible for these movies/shows were smart enough to know how to use it. The people making Slither and The Mist GAVE UP! They didn't even try some other means to make the monster. The fact is, everyone knows The Mist is a serious movie, it's tension filled, and from the clips I've seen- the deaths from the COMPUTER MONSTER are supposed to be intense and the characters and the computer are taking it seriously. So, now you know, Shunty. i hated no country, maybe the worst movie i saw all year, i had to force myself just to finish watching it Oh please. You're telling me you HAVEN'T seen Epic Movie? As for what I watched last... From the director of the fucking amazing, Ginger Snaps. And it was bad. Total cliche! Everything was cliched. The music, the story, the "drama" music, the "scary loud rumbling" music... What the fuck? How could the director of Ginger Snaps be so clueless?!! It was very stupid! There are only 2 good things about the entire movie. 1 was the scene on the cliff with... let's just say "the sheep." And the scenes with the little girl Ebrill not acting like a freak. I honestly expected this movie to be better because it wasn't a remake... It was idiotic, condescending, boring, and completely cliched. Horror is in fucking trouble. Big time. There's no question about that. The bad movies aren't even FUN anymore, like they were in the '80s! But thankfully I also saw, The show became kind of unfortunately became more dramatic than dry over the last 2 seasons and whenever the show tried to steer back toward the more dark tone of the first season (like in the episode "Mart of Darkness"), it rarely worked. Then they made 2 movies. The first one (Is It Fall Yet?) was remarkable for doing more for Jane, Quinn, and Jake's characters than it did for Daria. This time around, Daria's story is more important, and everyone else's story actually ties in with College, the main theme of the movie. It's unpredictable, smart, uplifting, pure entertainment.

i feel the exact same way, i will take a man in a rubber suit over a cgi monster anyday, but like i said i was able to fogive it in this movie, you should give it a shot, you dont have much to lose
and yes the dark sucked, caught that one when it first came out, you want fun bad movies go pick up some 50- movie packs, cant go wrong with them, 50 movies for about 20$, guranteed to have a good time with atleast some of them

No, I want something interesting to come out of horror today. Something unique. Something different. That's why horror sucks right now. Everything's the same. Over 99% of it at least.

i get that you don't like cgi, but hating a movie you haven't even seen is idiotic. the mist was a great movie despite that. just don't talk about a movie you haven't seen. i watched The Descent and The Ruins in the last few days. Both were not as good as people have made them out to be. The Ruins was slightly better though. Although The Descent's longer ending was pretty cool.

i get that you don't like cgi, but hating a movie you haven't even seen is idiotic. Okay, you are clearly not getting this, Shunty. Not getting it in the head - how would you feel if in a movie like The Exorcist, in that famous scene where Regan gets out of bed, breaking the straps, and bows down in front of that big light and the statue from Iraq... and you see BIG BIRD from Sesame Street with a big, goofy smile on his face standing there behind her? That's what using CGI in horror movies is like. The movie that uses it to create its' monsters CAN NEVER WORK. EVER. NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE. NONE. I have seen several scenes. I know what I'm talking about. I know what the monster looks like. So, therefore, I'm not wrong. the mist was a great movie despite that. just don't talk about a movie you haven't seen. Don't be stupid and tell me CGI can be ignored. It's a monster movie and CGI which looks like BIG COMPUTERIZED WATER onscreen will always look fake and ruin the scenes it is used in! That's the truth. It will never go away, fail, fall through, or stop being the truth. No matter what you wish. Sorry. I can see this is really hurting you somewhere. another reason as to why laz is a moron No, that would be you- T. shunty if you were to say you didnt like a movie he did and had never seen it before he would flip out and rant on with a few novel sized posts, but he thinks its ok for him to do it And since you love proving you're a moron, you're connecting 2 things that don't go together. I don't "flip out." I don't usually talk about movies I like. And he has every right to talk about movies he hasn't seen. Get a brain, T. You need one now. I forgot to mention I also watched... And... it didn't suck. It's really hard to take at the beginning because- who the hell knew that Greek people were this fanatical about being greek? Right off the bat, it seems like they're just taking a bunch of Jewish rituals and behaviors and just re-branding them as "Greek." Literally, I was sitting there going- "they stole that from The Nanny, they stole that from Will & Grace (Grace's character is Jewish)." But the thing that eventually made the movie work is that I kept waiting for the big, stupid, ultra-cliched "dramatic plot twist" that would leave you yelling at the characters... Strangely enough, that didn't happen. The movie is actually a very decent collection of "words of wisdom" type scenes. It's not funny. But it's actually really smart.

you are the only person who can bullshit your own bullshit and actually believe it No, T. You're desperate to believe what I'm saying is bullshit. You can't stand the fact that you're wrong sometimes. Which is why you constantly refer to everything I say as a novel. You're so fucking stupid, you don't even know what a novel is. You don't know how to say anything. You can't even make a decent insult. If you did, I'd be long gone by now. But I'm still here. That should tell you something. But you're so stupid, it'll take you years to figure things out that I knew at half your age. Shunty, as for your problem... You're a follower. I think that bothers you. You have nothing to say that T hasn't already said, so you just try to follow on his path. It's really sad. IN FACT, look at the pattern of posts here. You come on the board, but you always wait until T has said something about me before you respond. I just saw you come on the board. But you left. Because T hasn't said anything yet.
