Watched the Troma flick Def by Temptation for the first time. About a black vampire who brings men home from bars and... robs them of their purity. Through varied and all very strange means. What I thought of it... It's very confusing. There's a lot of underlying messages, some very deep. That I could tell. But as to what messages they were, good luck ever finding that out. It's certainly the most religious vampire film I've ever seen. But it's also very stylish and has its' fair share of interesting moments. I'd say it's worth checking out if you ever get around to it. I give it:

Just downloaded and watched a "straight to dvd" horror/black comedy called Big Bad Wolf. Not a great movie (really cheesy looking werewolf, bad jokes, subpar acting), but it does have some redeeming qualities: 1. The werewolf talks (No, I'm not kidding. Kind of a cool idea. Too bad everything it says is over-the-top corny). 2. 1 scene of werewolf rape (and yes, it is "doggystyle"), as he's really more of a rapist than a killer.) 3. 1 scene of graphic castration (with some funny dialogue during and after). 4. The baddie from Kindergarten Cop plays the werewolf (laughed everytime I saw him). 5. Cameo appearance by David Naughton (werewolf fans will recognize him as the actor who played "David" in An American Werewolf in London). You'll get more laughs than scares from this one, and I wouldn't recommend buying it, but if you get a chance to rent or download it I'd say give it a whirl. It's worth some cheap laughs, but don't take it too seriously or expect too much.

Does 1 werewolf rape another?

No, it's a ditzy blonde cheerleader type, but if you see the movie you'll see that because of the context it's presented in, it's not graphic or disturbing at all. It's more in the movie for a cheap laugh than anything else. I wasn't trying to condone being entertained by a rape scene because I "get off" on that sort of thing, merely as the scene is so over-the-top cheesy, that you can't help but laugh. Although I suppose some people do cringe whenever rape is presented in a movie, no matter how silly the context. I know a lot of people who liked The Hills Have Eyes remake up until Pluto and Lizard rape the younger daughter in the camper. Anyways, the scene I'm talking about in Big Bad Wolf isn't even 1/10 as disturbing as the scene in "Hills". If you ever see the movie I'm sure you'll know what I'm talking about. The movie obviously had a really low budget and the director went to great lengths to let the viewer know that he wasn't taking the movie seriously at all. The intentional cheese and black humor take the focus off of how absolutely pathetic the werewolf looks, and allows the movie to stay entertaining. The humor might be in bad taste and is definitely not for everyone, but I found it to be a really fun watch. Hope that clears things up a bit.

Although I suppose some people do cringe whenever rape is presented in a movie, no matter how silly the context. Well, I've never seen a 'silly' rape scene before (I think Heathers is the closest thing I ever saw and I never thought it was rape until Winona Ryder actually said so on the DVD), but I know what you mean. I think rape needs to be used really sparingly in movies. It just gets plain ridiculous when it's used in all these horrible I Spit on Your Grave exploitation films, concentration camp movies, women's prison movies, whatever. I can't even believe people would watch that garbage. But... whatever. As for The Hills Have Eyes, '77 only, I never really knew that the girl in the trailer was raped. By Pluto at least. But I never paid too much attention to that scene. It's one of the most intense scenes in horror history, I guess I'm one of the people who thinks to get through it, it's best to just wait until it's over. No remake can top that.

For me I subscribe to George Carlin's notion that everything and everything can be made into a joke IF you present it in the correct CONTEXT. So that's really the key for me in the scene. It's just way too ridiculous for anyone to take too seriously, but like I said, some people believe in some subjects being "taboo" not matter what. So I suppose it's just a question of personal taste. I found it pretty damn funny, but I'm sure a lot of people would've probably turned it off at that point. Oh well, to each his own!

Well, I guess when the Cheryl character in The Evil Dead was "raped" by the tree-vine, I kind of tune out at that point. Because that's the hardest moment to sit through in the movie without losing respect for the movie (that and the sequence with Shelly screaming "for God's sake, what happened to her i-yee-eeeeezzz?!!").
The things people come up with...

Lucky McKee's The Woods (2005) - bad. I really am a fan of the director. Sick Girl and May were truly great. But this film is one big stinker. I give it: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Fright (1971) - not very good. But I liked it. Very intense. But the girl just kept screaming far too much, too loudly, and at anything. I give it:

"i didnt find it gory at all though so that was a bit of a disappointment..but overall i liked it. "
You should run the part during the cyphering of the video feed where the previous crew are screaming and it rapidly shows scenes of gore, place this in slow motion and i can promise you nice gore moments. Ironic that they would spend all this time on vivid detailed gore just to be shown at a rapid, 5 second, segment of the movie.

I was kind of disapointed with EH too. It's not a total waste, but it's not one I'd buy or rent again.
Have you seen Pitch Black? It's not quiet up there with Aliens, but it's still really good. I was lucky enough to catch it before Vin Disel became well known, so I guess I was able to take it more seriously.
The sequel kind of sucked because it was written for Vin Disel, famous action star, rather than some unknown actor, that turned out to be a geek at heart. It also tries too hard to make him a kiddie friendly, super hero, when what made the character was that he was supposed to be inherently evil.

Just finished watching Slither on HBO. I've been wanting to see this movie for quite some time, but never got around to it. Usually when I have high expectations for a film the first time I see it I'm almost always let down and have to watch it a second time to appreciate it. Not in this case! I absolutely LOVED this film! Great gore, dark comedy that's ACTUALLY funny, and just all around a whole lot of dimented fun. The first half of the movie is spent mostly with our lil' creepy crawlie alien friends invading and infesting the unsuspecting human rubes of some little dump town. Think of the "Alien" franchise taking place in any town in the South and you'll get the idea here. Some really great "make your skin crawl" moments here, but that's just the begininning of the fun. The second half plays almost like a Romero zombie flick, as the infested folks behave much like a member of the walking dead might. Some great gore-humor-kills and some nice cannibalism scenes to be had here. You won't be disappointed This movie was just so much fun for me, I can't wait to see it again! The "birthing" scene in the barn, was that great or what?! Definitely one of my new favorite horror scenes of all time.........................If you love a fun horror movie with a perfect mix of gore, comedy, and scares like I do, then I recommend you go out and pick a copy of Slither up today!
