Hmmm, probably not, but then again who knows............With the ability to burn so much more data on rewritable DVD's I doubt that many people have use for floppys anymore so companies like Dell probably don't offer them standard anymore. Do you still have the box or user's manual that your pc came with? It should tell you there if you do or not. I'm thinking you don't because it sounds like you're describing one of the expansion covers for an IDE slot. In which case, I'd say you don't have it because if you did that cover wouldn't be there anymore. Not sure if that helps, but it's all I got!

You can get a USB all-in-one/floppy at Office Depot, Staples, wherever, for about $15. I don't use internal floppies in the systems I build anymore, but I do keep a USB one for rescue disks, flash cards, and stuff.

Does that mean it's like a thing you plug into a computer that doesn't have a disc thing that you can use files (like word / note pads) that are only on those little square discs?

Are you talking about those old 5.25" disks? I haven't seen one of those in years. They used to make a floppy drive that could read both sizes, but I haven't seen one of those in about as long.
The one I'm talking about reads the 3.5" disks, and various sized flash cards. They may make them to read 5.25" floppies too, I've just never seen one.
The 5.25" disks became obsolete in the early 90s, and the only reason to have a reader for them afterwards was for legacy support. Today the 3.5" drives exist mainly for that reason too. In another 10 years, if not sooner, no home PC or Laptop will have them.

I'm not sure what kind of disc I'm talking about. Let me try to google a picture of it... Yep, that's what it looks like. Does that help at all?

That's a 3.5". Yes, you can get an all-in-one for it. The 5.25" is paper-thin, and really flimsy.

Thanks for letting me know. My computer right now doesn't have the thing that takes those square 3.5" discs. Just CD.

With all the superior options, why the hell would anyone want to use a floppy anymore anyways?

I still have things (I think) that I never got off my old "floppy" discs. I'd like to use a plug-in type device to get all that stuff off.

Have you never used one in your life? Photos, things I wrote, the meaning of life, the missing evidence in every major criminal prosecution case from 1997 to 2004, crickets, the collective recorded works of Vanilla Ice, an old sandwich I forgot to eat, and a pristine widescreen copy of Alvin & the Chipmunks: The Movie, Part 15.
Actually, I don't know what's on all my old discs. But it would be nice to find out.
