I don't bother to watch Uwe Boll's movies. They never really looked too interesting. Don't be so close-minded. This coming from a PALIN supporter? Do you have any idea how much of a hypocrite you are?

I am more of a McCain supporter actually. Have you been reading Lindsay Lohan's myspace page again??? What she said about Palin was surprisingly intelligent. I didn't know she was that literate. The best film Michele Soavi ever made. I don't know what he's been doing in television, but he definitely mastered the documentary when he made this one. It's short but it also leaves you wanting more, filling the viewer with passion and a lot of respect for Argento, even if it's kind of a greatest hits from 1969 to 1985. It may branch off into Romero and Lamberto Bava territory but it actually feels like it works since it's all pretty much scored to Goblin's music and they did the soundtracks to both Demons and Dawn of the Dead.

Lesbians are usually smarter than people like Lindsay Lohan. I think it's just a rumor.

Well, T, you were dead wrong about Pro-Life but you were quite right about this one. It's out of the 8 that I've seen the unquestioned Best of the 2nd Season. The beginning had me worried because it was so slow and the political commentator voice on the radio was a complete hack. And the little girl talked... so... slow. But about half way through it turned great. The music is a little cliched and some of the slow-motion is crap, but other than that, this one has a lot of satisfying moments.

yea washingtonians started off a little slow, but ended up being a fun cheesy episode with enpugh good things going for it, and nope pro-life still stands out as one of the best episodes for either season

Running Scared - I think this movie tries to be too smart for its own good. It's basically a poor-man's "Lucky Number Slevin" or "Usual Suspects" with some ultra-fast, ultra-crappy visual editing. 7/10
Bourne Identity - Better than I gave it credit for. I still don't buy Damon as a tough guy but the fight scenes were spread out and not overdone. I will watch the 2nd one asap. 7 1/2 /10

pro-life still stands out as one of the best episodes for either season Nope, it's in fact one of the worst. Standing side-by-side with The V Word. Look, T, you have to get over this. Get ON with your life already. My last re-watch: I don't know who directed this, but many say it's Lloyd Kaufman. If that's true, it's his best film- point blank. I don't think he did though, this is way too freaky and creepy... you know, in a good way! This film's sense of anarchy, on everything from teenage morality to gender roles to corruption to apathy, is downright brilliant. But done in a fun, crazy style that delivers great insanity and good music too. Not completely perfect. But then, what Troma film is?

Sounds Like (MoH season 2) I'm ducking that one. That and Dream Cruise. My last re-watches: The movie might not be great, but Warwick Davis is. He literally keeps this thing going the whole way through and makes you want to see more of him. The movie doesn't really seem to be able to drum up much horror or suspense, but for whatever reason, it completely gets the comedy right and fully knows the humor of these situations. That makes it worth a look for anyone who likes personality in horror and enjoys a fun monster. This one was a surprise. I knew it was a little better than the original. But after seeing it again for the first time in over 7 years... and of course knowing it was directed by the Idle Hands guy, shows just how much could actually be done with the Leprechaun. If he hadn't already done an excellent job in the first movie, Warwick Davis nails this one. Over and over again. Especially in that scene at the Irish bar which was actually downright CREEPY! Like, to the bone creepy. This one is everthing from a full-time hoot & a holler, well paced, well edited, has some decent gore, and if not smart then damn crafty. And hell, in a movie about a killer-leprechaun, that's good enough. Did anyone else catch the in-reference to Ice Cream Man? And there might be one for Vamp as well.

For the first time: And, well... it's a fascinating idea. There's a gateway to hell in this old apartment house where someone must keep guard so that the ghosts of murderers and a bunch of really gross zombies won't get out. But the movie starts out as a bunch of different things first- a woman with an illness movie, and a police suspicion film that makes it look like the woman's boyfriend is trying to kill her or drive her crazy. I think muddled might be a good word for it, but there are some good and surprising scenes that take it away from being boring or ordinary. And 2 really impressive scenes of blood / gore. This may be one of the first movies to change the look of horror movie blood from melted-crayon red to a darker and thinner liquid that looks more realistic. However, there are a few more flaws to deal with. The music sucks (A LOT), there are too many scenes that feel like they were stolen from The Exorcist and Rosemary's Baby, and the movie makes too many religious comments on sexuality when the fact that someone was a murderer or an abusive father has nothing to do with their sex life. Keep sex and religion separate, all you movies!

The Howling : BORING! Did this movie shock people when it first came out? I hope so because it does absolutely dick now. Decent ending and some great acting by Dee Wallace. That's all I can see or say. 6/10

You are SO LUCKY that dickhead-Dave isn't here. He would GUT you like a fish, eat your insides, and hang your hollow skin out to dry. Howling is one of his personal favorites. When I first saw it, I was unimpressed. It actually takes quite awhile to see how well it works. It literally took me about 6 viewings. But in all seriousness, don't assume a classic's job is to "shock" people. Horror is not really about shocking people. It's a lot more than that. And don't ever allude to great movies having to compete with the complete shit of today. The Howling is still WORLDS better than any SO CALLED "horror" America has put out in the last 12 years. Anyway, my turn: This one was a big disappointment. It started off well enough but I got tired very quick because absolutely nothing was happening. And nothing really does happen until the last 24 minutes. At that point, you get all the best scenes. Another huge drawback- this film has a lot of religious themes and not only are they really silly but they suddenly become very important to the plot, but what's the point? Oh, and the movie seems to be all about people never having sex. That's the message of the movie. I guess. See a movie should never rely this much on a message that isn't made perfectly clear. But, points for the style and especially for the performance by the woman playing Alice, the best friend. And the "chicken gumbo" waitress. This sequel is clearly superior to the original. But keep a few things in mind: it's not a horror movie at all and the first 28 minutes or so are almost complete garbage. It takes a long while to get going, but when it does, it's great. This one does away with the religious stuff and instead becomes about parenting and children's social development. The beginning half-hour is very heavy-handed and shows too much of the father when the movie is really about the daughter. So whenever they get rid of him, it gets better. The sub-plot about Mrs. Ferrand and her dead daughter is very interesting too and provides the film's best pay-off.

Exorcist made people shit themselves constantly when it first came out but compared to movies of today, it is pretty tame (fx wise). That's the shock value I was talking about.
Saw 5 - Cha-ching! Much better than I thought it would be. Easily better than part 2 or 3. The score is lacking a bit but the signature "saw tune" still comes through at the end. Good ending and some really mean kills. One of the things I like about the Saw franchise is that they primarily use "real blood" as opposed to CGI poop. 8/10

Exorcist made people shit themselves constantly when it first came out but compared to movies of today, it is pretty tame (fx wise). That's the shock value I was talking about. Um, that's nice. But you can't rely on shock value to make horror work. It's only one in maybe 40 ways a horror movie can work. And, FUCK COMPARING MOVIES FROM THE 70'S AND 80'S TO TODAY! TODAY'S HORROR IS SHIT (unless it comes from Asia, then it's only potentially shit with a fair potential for being quality). Get a clue, kid. Only retards who never knew what horror was think comparing movies from the 70's and 80's to today is smart, fair, or acceptable. The greatest horror films of all-time don't need great effects but many of them still hold up well enough today. Fulci's gore looks like shit, but do you think any of his psychotic fanclub give a fuck what you think? Hell no. Horror is made up of several different things and it's function is to be more than just shocking. Shocking films lose their ONE QUALITY that make them watchable, whereas great horror has more than one level to it and lasts forever. And means something to smart people who don't just hop trends and watch crap like Saw and the sequels. Seriously, for someone who's been here as long as you, I thought you were smarter than this. Saw 5 - shit. Just like 1, 2, 3, and 4. Anyway, speaking of shit, my last watch: Okay, in all fairness- it could have been worse. But not by much. People who bitch about Argento's dubbing are fools, this film is where dubbing really gets on your nerves. The writing is non-existent, the plot is fucking stupid, the New York mob stuff is so cliched and poorly done here it's laughable (and trying to make scenes of women being brutally punched, slapped, and kicked amusing is not okay), it's too long, the music doesn't quite cut it, and just like Cannibal Holocaust, I'll say it for the world to hear - NO MOVIE is ever worth killing animals for. I don't give a fuck what reason you come up with, it's a pathetic excuse and a sick thing to do. I don't care if it's slimy or dirty or ugly or doesn't scream when you chop it up, I don't care if it's the world's least popular animal - no movie is worth killing animals for. However, the film had a few redeeming qualities. The scene with the women singing to keep the cannibals from getting the best of them was actually touching. The piranha scene was fairly unpredictable, very well handled, and perfectly scored with the music. And there is a general sense of hopelessness that kind of works some of the time. Overall though, it's too little and too late to save the movie.
