Upon finishing, I wasn't too impressed. I felt the last 20 minutes just fell apart. 7/10

Lifeforce = This looks better than a lot of movies today. The shriveled corpses look wicked and Mathilda May isn't too hard on the eyes either. Good story with an English tone to it. I underestimated the length last night and must watch the last half hour tonite. So far 7 1/2 /10 I'm going to be watching that movie in a few days. I re-watched a comedy: Now, I've never been a comedy expert, but I thought it was very well-made. I don't know if I laughed, but I was just riveted enough to stay awake through it.

Sure were. Before American Pie and remake-itis destroyed American cinema. I seen this at the theater. Little sad near the end,eh? I love Mastifs! I guess so. But he was still a hero. The part that was the saddest was when Scott came home and started reading the "rules" to the new pup and you expected it (even though you knew he was dead) to be Hooch and then you see the new pup's face. Doesn't look the same, but just similar enough to make you miss Hooch. my last watches: Man, I swear to you I used to think the people at Troma were insane. Now I think they're certified frickin' geniuses! This little import from Belgium has a few problems (bad FX on the killer grannies, edited-out gore in all U.S. versions, and they leave you with no characters to identify with- most of the sympathetic characters die before the end). But it's actually a lot smarter than it looks, it's well-edited, pretty well shot (looks like it was shot in widescreen though, Troma cut it to fullscreen), and has very high energy and is very creepy. The opening 36 minutes are the most fun. If the rest of it had been, it would get more. I was incorrectly told this was a horror movie. It is a powerful portrait of fanatical-religious and political hypocrasy. But it's also boring and painfully cliched. I'm torn over what to think of it. Much like Peeping Tom. Another huge disappointment from the abysmal 2nd season of Masters of Horror. CGI is killing horror and completely ruins the 2nd half of this otherwise pretty darn good film/episode. Except for the not very good actress playing Virginia, the first half of this works well. The 2nd half is garbage, except for an interesting final minute and a half. Bloodspell (1987) (aka - The Boy from Hell) Move over, Troll II! Make way, Sleepaway Camp 2: Unhappy Campers! Pack your bags, Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2! There's a new " Worst Horror Movie Ever Made" in town. And it's name is: Bloodspell. This movie is so bad, Twink Caplan (from the blockbuster movies - Clueless and Look Who's Talking) changed her name to Theodora Louise when she appeared in this movie. You're going to love this one- it's basically a rip-off of... are you ready for this... Friday the 13th Part V. Yep! The one the fans hated so much when it came out that they forced Paramount to make another movie just to fix what they did, people hated it so much! Psycho kid gets shipped off to a Boarding House for other troubled misfit teens, gets picked on, and the others start turning up dead. But there's a supernatural twist here- his father possesses his body and makes him do bad things. The acting is unbelievably bad from everyone. Lovably eccentric redhead Caplan walks around with her usual Tammy Faye Bakker grin and her crazy eyes, beaming and smiling even when she is projectile-tossed through the air. It feels like they got her on loan from some awful family tv show like Full House or something. Best of all- the killer looks sane and there's this Keanu Reeves lookalike in Bill-&-Ted mode who looks crazy and is picked on even more than the killer. And when he gets mad... LOOK OUT! He likes to shake... tree leaves! And tear up... table cloths. And in a fit of rage... moans and flops his long hair and... yells at Tony to make everyone shut up. His outbursts are so funny, you'll swear you're watching The Waterboy. But you're not. You're watching Bloodspell. The budget isn't really the problem. It looks okay. There's a lot of blue light, very effective. The music score and sound quality are fine - VERY bass-heavy. The plot is okay. But... those actors. There's a crazy psycho guy in a business suit who kills a blonde woman, ala- Lifetime TV-Movie mode with her being chased to her car... and she has one of the most unbelievable movie trips ever. Her fall on that lawn looks about as real as Pam Anderson's boobs. There's a wacky black guy with silly boxer-shorts who gets shredded at a pool party. A black girl who's a spitting image of Tootie from The Facts of Life. There's a psychological examination scene where the doctor rubs the psycho kids' shoulders ( way too hands-on this guy). And a hanging scene that will probably make you piss yourself laughing.

You were BORED? During Repulsion? Was it the black and white? Sometimes that bugs me too. But Repulsion was so wacky! There was always something going on! It's all character-driven, which is amazing how much they were able to accomplish. You're saying you didn't react when she would always throw something away when she saw it in her bathroom cup? Guys kept putting things in her cup after she told her sister to make them stop doing that. Look at her reaction to that. And the crazy music. The murders. The wacky camera angles. The movie actually both shocked me, entertained me, grossed me out, and made me tired. It was a complete rollercoaster experience. That's power! Oh well, as they say - you can't please everyone. I re-watched: And it was just as good as the last time I saw it. This movie is so undervalued, it's a joke. The music score is good, that scene with Anne Ramsey watching The Bad Seed was amazingly spooky, the tension was palpable, I actually cared about the characters, the acting was good ( except for the people playing the motorcycle bullies and the abusive father), the blood was good. It really worked. finally saw another one of Carpenter's films: GOD is this guy overrated! This is like a bad Stephen King movie, about a Stephen King like character writing books. And just like cliche- what he writes comes true. Big whoop! It's a huge bore. And it just borrows from what Carpenter's already done (The Thing, Assault on Precinct 13), plus it rips off Hellraiser, Videodrome, and the writer borrowed from his screenplay for Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare. Some of it looked good, the big budget helped a bit. But, a lot like Michele Soavi's The Church, nothing happened. Too many suggestions of something happening but nothing did. At least in Carpenter's favor, he re-did this with Cigarette Burns and did it right.

just watched the legendary Universal monster-horror classic: And after Dracula, I wasn't expecting very much. So I was a bit surprised when it turned out to be quite good. It is fairly progressive for its' time, by showing a typical holyman as hard-edged and narrow minded toward other faiths, and by pointing out to the police officer- what's the rush(?), the dead person's already dead. Also, showing the paranoia of the village people is a great touch. So this one deserves big points there. And there's some good stylistic-atmosphere (the fog, the woods, the gypsies), Claude Rains (as the father) gives a great performance, and there's some good foreboding... But the pay-off death scenes are just not very good. The movie also completely fails to be scary. But- those are small complaints. The movie is very smart for its' time.

they are remaking the wolfman

I have NO problem with them remaking classic horror films. Because it's been so long since they've come out, the meaning of all the films are open to interpretation, the effect has kind of worn off, they're not scary at all anymore, there's such a HUGE cultural difference between the times, the black and white is outdated beyond outdated.
It's better that they remake classic b&w horror films and bad horror films from the 70s and 80s (like the new Crazies remake, or the John Carpenter's The Thing remake, or Amityville Horror, or Friday the 13th) than masterpieces and outstanding films like The Fog, The Hills Have Eyes, Black Christmas, Halloween, Dawn of the Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and all those other remakes coming out soon.

Whether you're lying or being honest, you're still an idiot. You don't offend me, you're an offense to America itself. As the saying goes- everytime you speak, you weaken the nation. my last watch: FINALLY, a Stuart Gordon film that hasn't let me down! Well, in one manner of speaking. The last 30 minutes (when the machine turns itself on) go way too far, lack originality, and aren't fun. But the first 55 are so good, it hardly matters. And the pacing stays fast, so it's easy to overlook in the grand scheme. This is truly a must-see. And I still say what I said before - Fox's DVD cover for this movie FUCKING SUCKS.

i have wanted to check that out but the horrible looking cover has kept me away from it You might like it. There's lots of Blob-remake-like goo FX and monster-creature stuff... You know, if that's one of the things you liked about Blob-88... hmmmm... that was actually one of the few gordon movies that i felt DID let me down. Huh? Not quite following. Care to elaborate? Samuel L. Jackson is a very intense guy. Have you ever seen... I think it was Jungle Fever? That scene where he goes home at the end and is looking for money for drugs. That scene is SO INTENSE, it's insane! It makes that show Intervention look staged. I don't know if this clip sounds right - someone's playing TV in the room I'm in now, but this is the scene in the movie I'm talking about:

i went to the movies to see lakeview terrace, it was pretty good, good acting from jackson and the other lead guy, you could really feel the tension and frustration between them, i just wish jackson had been a little more sinister, he was an asshole but they could have even made him worse, overall tho deff a watchable movie that i enjoyed

Monster Squad - I like gory films but every once in a while it is refreshing to see a good movie that hardly has an ounce of blood in it. I still cry like a little girl when Frankenstein's monster gets sucked away in the vortex. 8/10

I just heard last night that Horace a.k.a Fatkid died of pneumonia a few years ago. It's hard hearing people you sort of grew up with passing on. R.I.P Horace.
