I figured this would be a good thread to ask questions or have opinions on everything Jason.
So... how big do you guys figure Crystal Lake is? Sounds stupid and I don't want to pick apart this series but it always made me wonder.

I also have to change my favorite Friday to part 4. Watched part 4 then part 7 and you can tell a big difference. Better writing, score, and ending for part 4.

I like New Blood more I think, but I wouldn't call it better. For one thing IV has the living Jason, instead of zombie Jason. It's also far more brutal, and the gore is better. I can't think of any other movie in the series that finishes Jason in such a cool way, though the hanging scene in III comes close (well technically it didn't finish him either, because he got down and chased Chris some more). Besides, how many Cory Feldman movies can be taken seriously? This and Stand By Me are the only ones I can think of.
The reason I like New Blood more is because I liked seeing Jason get his ass kicked by Tina. She's my all time favorite Friday heroine. They should have brought her back in every sequel afterward. In fact theyy should make a Jason vs Evil Dead movie, where Ash and Tina end up having a love child together. The kid will grow up to be twice as badass as his parents too.

The New Blood is better than The Final Chapter. Because The Final Chapter had the least to offer along with A New Beginning of any of the Paramount films. It's all gore and how Jason looks. Yeah, he looks great. Yeah, the gore looks great. What else is there?
The New Blood has a better story altogether - and that can't be discounted. Tina is a great character, Lar Park Lincoln gave a very good performance, it has an actual subplot, Dr. Crews is a bastard and Terry Kiser gives a great performance too. The supporting characters are less annoying than those in The Final Chapter, and the surreal material is handled very well.
The Final Chapter can only be enjoyed in terms of gore and effects. The New Blood has more than that. The missing blood/gore is almost pointless. And still, this movie managed to do something parts II, IV, and V didn't. Have a great character and make you care about what happened to her. Not to mention Kane Hodder is great as Jason and it's an incredibly suspenseful movie. And it's fun! A lot more fun than The Final Chapter.

Is it fair to say that part 4 is more of a typical 80's film than 7 is? Both made in the same decade but have a totally different feel to them. 4 also had a cool classical score while 7 had a more synth-like sound to it.

How about..... Pick your favorite Death!!!
My vote goes to the "upside-down split" kill in Part 3. Runner up is the "wheelchair machete" kill in Part 2. I know it's mean but I always laugh at that one.

I always enjoyed that kill from Jason Takes Manhattan, where Jason drowns that professor in the disgusting bucket of slime. That would be a terrible way to die. There was a dead rat floating on top, for Chrissakes!
Also, the shower death scene in Final Chapter. The sound of a skull being crushed always makes me cringe. I felt bad for the guy.

I read that they are releasing a new box set with all the gore scenes intact and remastered. BASTARDS!!!!!!!!! I waited for a box set for years and was not about to buy all the singles when a box set was inevitable. CUNTS!!!!!!! Whew, I feel better now.

Ha! Uncut? They will never do that. Besides, the new boxset will only include the first three films.

I'd like to see an uncut version of 3. That one was heavily censored. I think Paramount has always said that no additional footage exists for any of the series any longer. The stuff Kimmell got cut, was never filmed anyway, but it would be nice if some of the stuff cut for the MPAA turned up.
It would be nice to see a much bloodier 7 too. Most of the kills were done off-screen, which really takes away from it. I think that it was actually filmed that way though, because the studios were all cracking down on violence, and self-censoring their productions by that time.
As far as favorite kills go, there's so many to choose from. The ones mentioned so far are great. I'll nominate one that hasn't been mentioned yet: The sleeping bag scene from part 6. That one wasn't as graphic as the others, but it still looked fucking painful.

more often then not there is barely any difference from and R rated to an unrated movie, most of the time you can watch the R version and then the unrated and wont even notice the cut or added gore because it is so so little

Well, sure they only cut maybe 1 to 4 or 5 seconds from each death. But it's all about the fans and what we want. Face it, a lot of fans actually do know shots well enough to distinguish between cut and uncut. Besides, you're talking about mostly new movies. Very few older movies finally get released uncut. Hellraiser and The Hills Have Eyes (Originals ONLY!) have scenes famously cut and never changed or extended. I read that they are releasing a new box set with all the gore scenes intact and remastered. BASTARDS!!!!!!!!! I waited for a box set for years and was not about to buy all the singles when a box set was inevitable. CUNTS!!!!!!! Whew, I feel better now. Well, be careful... The latest news says that the boxset will only have parts 1 through 3 and that's it. Is it fair to say that part 4 is more of a typical 80's film than 7 is? Early 80's and late 80's had different types of styles to them. And the Friday the 13th films are the rare franchise that spans into 3 different sort of style groups. 1 through 3 have their own style, 4 & 5 have their own style, and 6 through 8 have their own style. Both made in the same decade but have a totally different feel to them. 4 also had a cool classical score while 7 had a more synth-like sound to it. Those are mechanical effects. It was made to have a kind of gritty, industrial sound to it. Synth is more what John Carpenter, Claudio Simonetti, and Alan Howarth were doing in the late 1970's, early 1980's.

I love the sounds used in the opening credits of New Blood. It has a really stark, foreboding repetition to it. I always think of an old, haunted factory when I hear it. It really sets you up for the violence that's later committed in the film.
But I dislike the look of Jason. He's too big and bulky, and his skin looks way too much like beef jerky. And how did those clothes even stay on him? They were more torn up than Paris Hilton's vagina.

I didn't like seeing his exposed back / skeleton. But other than that, as long as he's got the hockey mask and the makeup looks good, great. I'm fine. It doesn't even really matter. The style of the 1980's made the movies entertaining.
This remake is going to be a piece of shit because it's from the worst decade in horror history.

sorry i'm not really into generic slasher movies that take no brains to make. oh! oh! that's right, i went there! Generic slasher films = The Prowler, My Bloody Valentine, Prom Night Actually, the Friday the 13th films were some of the freshest slasher films in the genre. They had very good atmosphere, great scores by Harry Manfredini, usually quite decent gore, pretty good camerwork. The writing is what sunk those films. At least, parts 1 and II, IV and V.
