Just watched a documentary on this shit. The parents,"trainers", and even audience members are all assholes from what I've seen and read. Little kids should be playing with toys or their friends and not dressed up like little whores. In most cases, I would charge the parents with abuse and take the kids away. Anyone agree?
There are many bigger problems in the world today but I still find this a barbaric and spirit-crushing practice. Given that there are bigger problems in the world today and people still find the time to partake in this kind of activity boggles me.

it's a way to get people obsessed with their looks and others from an early age. i totally agree that kids should be allowed to be kids. i was a teacher's aid in Pre-K for a year and i learned just how fun kids can be.

It's the parents' fault. They realize they haven't accomplished their goals in life so they push them all on their children at a very young age. This is what causes kids, especially girls, to become depressed and develop eating disorders later on down the road.

Yes what happens to these kids really sucks.
But let's take some inspiration from the wisdom of certain people we've heard talking recently... Maybe those kids had it coming because they bored their parents.
Because of course we know some things are so bad because they're boring. Those parents probably had the right to terrorize those kids. They were bored! But why should we be mad at them - they sure "owned" those tykes.

Oh yeah? When I was little, I was overweight. But you would have fit the dresses. So, if anyone here had been in one - it would be You.

Actually, my mother was an alcoholic. She drank and drove. Everyone hated my Mom, they had to swurve a lot.
And for someone who thinks they actually have a life, you think way too much about Children's Beauty Pageants. If you would try using that focus on Horror... you might actually understand the genre!

I find that, most of the time, I am alone in my opinions.Thank you guys for your comments! It's good to know that some other people have some morals.
A similar issue...sports. Pudgy or not, I played soccer and baseball until I was 12 and things started changing.(Get your minds out of the gutter!) I mean, sports weren't as fun.It was more about asshole parents bitching about a kid who struck out than it was about exercise and having fun. I'm sure you guys have some stories about this stuff too...

That's what sports are - compete to death. Win and kill your opponent or else you're worthless and you should die trying. Be the best or you're worthless.
Same thing with non-athletic women and the fashion industry. Look at the way women are treated in the beauty, health, modeling, and fashion industry - if you don't look like they want you to look, you're worthless. If you're ugly, kill yourself or hide your face forever. If you're overweight, don't leave your house. If you have the wrong body type or you commit a "fashion faux pas" - you'll be teased until you acquire anorexia or bulemia or various other eating disorders until you self-destruct.
But the reason why the beauty / fashion industry is that way is basically the same thing as sports... for the same reason. To make Straight White Men happy. For the sports industry.

It's funny how Marilyn Monroe was/is pretty much a timeless beauty. But by today's anorexic,12 year old boy looks go people would say she is fat. She looks pretty healthy to me. I hate seeing ribs move and hearts-beating on twiggy broads.

With this youth and thinness obsessed culture, things are bound to get worse rather than better.
We only have sports, tabloids, and things like them to blame.

I agree. I think that people's attitudes would change if there were more average people in commercials, films, etc. Also, how many shows do we need with a fat dolt husband and a slimmer, brainier wife? Wait,I'll save this for a new topic...

Actually, I think there are plenty of average people in TV, movies, etc. Look at the shows that are famous for casting actors regardless of what body type they are. First of all, all the fat husband/skinny wife shows. Of course, that's just for guys. But The Shield has Michael Chiklas and he's not too skinny. The Sopranos had a ton of round and a bit chunky guys. Reality TV, strangely enough, will cast anyone just for personality, not just weight. Hogan Knows Best's wife there didn't look that skinny. There was that sitcom with... I think her name was Sarah Rue, Less Than Perfect. She was never "too" skinny. This was years ago, but there was that big black guy on American Idol. But for movies there's the Hairspray remake, and Real Women Have Curves. Carson Kresley has that new show also, How to Look Good Naked, that show has a lot of average-shaped women. And Mo'Nique had a lot of shows for awhile. Charm School and Fat Chance. Plus, she has movies on Lifetime or Oxygen every now and then. Queen Latifah is still a huge star now, look at everything she's done.
The issue with TV and movies and such is that they cast the "ideal" roles for the perfect, skinny types. Especially TV. On all the most popular shows, the youngest people are all the skinnier types, the people having the most sex... But usually, the people with the most problems are the skinnier ones too. Strange...
