Is anyone else a fan of this HBO masterpiece(OZ)? I own all the seasons and have watched them all about 3 times. My favorite show EVER.

Is it about people in prison? I've seen enough prison dramas to last me the rest of my life. (okay, just 1 or 2, but it felt like an eternity of various films / tv)

It is about people in prison but it also started the whole genre(on TV). It is full of social commentary and moral questions. You have the token prison gangs(groups)= Muslims,Aryans,Irish,Homeboys,Latinos,Italians, etc. and shows the good/bad parts of everyone.
Full of violence, profanity,STORIES(everybody gets pretty equal screen time and their characters actually evolve) and nudity(mostly male). Be sure to close your eyes , Shunty!
I've never seen Prison Break but can imagine that this is an adult version of that show.

I give you the Malbowski Guarantee that you will enjoy this show.
BTW, I know that NY is a big place but have you ever seen Chuck Zito,T? He plays a major character in seasons 2-6 and also punched out JCVD(Jean Claude) at a strip club. I just figured you guys would be pizons!(nice spelling eh)

I believe that the show was filmed in New York since the same actors can be seen on any of the Law and Orders and the Sopranos as well.

i can't believe there are only 8 episodes in every season. that does make me wanna watch it more. prison break sucked. it was a one-trick pony that thought it was smarter than it really was.

Ernie Hudson plays the warden and is there right till the end of season 6... his son(real) also has a big part in season 3.
The stories are ongoing and there are plenty of recaps so if you miss an episode here or there it doesn't leave you hanging. I'm on season 3 right now which involves a boxing tournament with one fighter from each of the different groups.
3 is my favorite season with season 4 a close second.
Season 4 also has 16 episodes which is cool.
Other celeb appearances include Luke Perry(season 4), LL Cool J(season 2), Method Man(season 4), Master P(season 4), along with some other less-recognizable cult celebs appearing throughout.
My favorite character is probably Schillinger, the leader of the Aryans. He is rude and cruel at times but also funny and has many personality contrasts. There is a character for everyone to relate to and like for whatever reasons. Just put aside any thoughts of " That would never happen in a real jail" and I guarantee you will be entertained.
