lets say a truck was about to hit a kid and a dog and you could only save one..who would it be??
i had this convo along time ago on another message board..for me its an easy choice i would go dog..i love dogs and could really care less about people.. the only time i would ever save the kid or any person over a dog would be if it was a family member or a close friend

How old would the kid be? Would the dog be vicious?
I believe children and animals are the purest creatures on earth, so that is indeed a tough question.

I'm afraid I would have to go with the kid. Because the parents would kill you if you let the kid die just to save a dog. Plus, people feel more pain than animals do. Animals aren't aware of how much pain they're in.

^^ actually it should be the other way around.. you should kill the parents if the kid is alone in the middle of the street
and kids do not feel more pain then animals..that is just dumb to say..they may be more aware of what happened but in no way do they feel more pain..

And what scientific evidence have you based that opinion on?

its called common sense
i know you are not dumb enough to think a child feels more pain then a dog ..
none can be proved tho..maybe the dog feels more pain then the child..maybe the child can feel more pain then the dog..but none can be proved and none would make sense
if i take a hammer and smash a dogs paw and smash a childs foot i would think they will both be in a equal amount of pain.. wouldnt you??

No. And the reason why is very clear. Especially to someone with common sense.

and that reason is?? oo yea you dont have one because you know im right
animals and humans both feel pain the same.. dont be a moron

and that reason is?? oo yea you dont have one because you know im right I had one yesterday. But I've forgotten it. I guess now it's like a riddle... animals and humans both feel pain the same.. dont be a moron I'm not a moron. They have different brains. Animals' brains don't understand pain. But humans' brains do. When a brain understands pain, they feel more of it than brains that don't understand pain, and they feel the pain for longer. The only thing that's different - as far as I know - about the way people and animals feel pain is that people can go into shock from intense pain. Animals don't and can't. Haven't you ever seen animal stories on TV? It's possible for a dog to have internal organs start to fall out of it's stomach and not only keep living for hours afterward, but stay completely awake during that. Haven't you ever seen a dog without a bottom jaw? I have. And they don't react like people with no jaws do. Ever seen cats with severely matted fur? The fur rolls into balls / clumps until it rips the skin. And they don't react like people do. The fact that animals don't react to pain like humans do proves that they feel it in a different way. Therefore, they are aware of less pain than people are. Which means - they feel it less than we do.

just because they dont react the same doesnt mean they dont feel it.. i mean what is a dog supposed to do go holy shit my organs are falling out and grab them and start shoving them back in
more then likely a human would be in shock if they were to happen and wouldnt really react either
sure they have diff brains and react diff but i still think they feel equal pain

You're unbelievable, T. I have clearly proved you wrong, and you are still floundering. You are so desperate to say you still could be right, you're coming up with the saddest arguments. Face it, you're wrong. That's it. It's over. I'm so sorry you can't handle this. But now it's getting really pathetic.

you havent proved anything.. there is no way to prove who feels more pain
common sense would say they both feel it the same.. just because a dog can cry and yell and scream liek a child can doesnt mean they dont feel it the same.. like i said ther is no way to prove anything we are saying but im sure most would agree they can both feel pain the same

Ask actual experts. Or are you going to argue that years in college under intensive study doesn't mean they're educated?

they may be educated, but this question has no answer, we can all think what we want but there is no clear cut fact.. common sense would say we all feel pain the same.. humans and all animals

Your "idea" of common sense. But your idea of common sense isn't as sensible as you seem to think it is.
Next, you're going to tell me they feel the same amount of sexual pleasure than people do. Plus, female animals giving birth - so the same as people. Just one question - have you ever been in the room while a human child is being born? Have you ever seen an animal being born?

well sex is a completely different thing, humans have foreplay, touching, rubbing, kissing all that kind of stuff.. animals just do there business so of course that is gonna be different
and no i havent ever been in a room when anything was being born, seen some stuff on tv but thats it

Well, as you can imagine, there is pain involved in both human and animal births. If you say both humans and animals feel the same amount of pain, than you must think both procedures are the same. That they do the same things (except for the amount of babies they have). Do you think the same things happen when human and animal females give birth?

Post by tsmooth31 on May 13, 2008 17:59:10 GMT -5
no i dont think that, that is a diff type of pain tho... i mean im sure they both hurt a real lot.. maybe animal birth is just as painful as human birth.. again its not like the animal can scream and actually say it is in pain
i was basically talking about like i said bashing a human or animal with a hammer or hitting them with a car.. i dont see why they wouldnt feel the same pain with that

I believe that gorillas are the only other animals who have sex face-to-face. Some sort of monkey or ape anyways.

Dolphins are really into sex for pleasure. I mean take the horniest, most perverted human you can think of, and they still don't match the average dolphin's sex drive. Bottle nosed dolphins are notorious for being cute enough for PETA to care more about than all humans combined, and for trying to fuck anything that gets near them. The only thing they love more than ganging up on sharks and killing them, is gang fucking the mangled carcass.
As far as pain goes, that depends on the central nervous system. Rats and humans aren't very different physiologically, which is why they use them to test everything ultimately meant for human consumption on. They'd feel the same amount of pain as us. Comprehending what was happening would be a different matter.
