I picked up the special edition last night. Wicked tunes, story, cars, clothes, etc. Only complaint I have is that some of the controls are awkward but other than that....PERFECT! 10/10 Anyone else dig GTA?

I was going to start a topic like this, but I didn't think anyone else liked video games on here.
Anyway, the game is the holy grail of games. Not only is it the best GTA yet, it's the best game I have ever played. The Euphoria physics engine is astoundingly realistic. I love shooting people and watching them fall down the stairs, or putting hot lead into each of someone' limbs.
How far are you into the story?

I love video games, but I've never gotten into GTA.
I've been re-playing Oblivion lately though. Nice enough game, but the main story is really lacking. I've been wanting to get into modding for a while though, and the Oblivion mod community seems pretty active, so it looks like it would be a good place to start.

I'd definitely recommend you give GTA4 a try, lowkey. It feels completely different. It's much more realistic, and it has a totally engrossing storyline.
There's so much stuff to do! Bowling, internet, darts, drinking, strip clubs, comedy clubs, magic shows, helicopter tours, restaraunts, sight-seeing, racing, and of course....RAMPAGING!

I look forward to playing it cause San Andreas is the favorite game ever. Nothing is better than GTA. Halo fans can suck my 'big n' veiny' dick.

I just started the Vlad missions. Also, I had my first shitty date yesterday with Michelle (don't take her to the Russian Theatre!) I didn't even try getting fresh. No reverse cam, eh Piggsy? (prev L2 and R2 together) The new way using the O button stinks. My only complaint. I predict that the racing missions later might be pretty tough but fun nonetheless. I also wish that an older version of Lovefist would make an appearance.

I'm ignorant about all these new video games. I haven't even played The Sims yet and they're raving about how many games they've sold of that one.

Sims has too much shit to do, IMO. That's where GTA-San Andreas failed. They added too much crap for your character to do. (ie.work-out,eating,ability to hold breath underwater, how far you can run,how well you operate specific vehicles, etc.

True. I don't like RPGs, and San Andreas was pretty much a bloody RPG.
IV has a lot of stuff to do, but it's never overwhelming.

For the same reason I don't dig "stealth" games. It's boring. I cleaned my shitter and shower this morning. Hey,let's put that in a game!

Stealth games are fun. They just take patience. You should check out Manhunt, if you like horror. I've never played another stealth game that makes you saw people's heads off with razor wire, gouge their eyes out with glass, or castrate them with a sickle. It's the darkest, most gruesome game I've ever played-- the hunters' dialog is freaking hilarious too.
I was hoping Assassins Creed would be a good stealth game, but there isn't much stealth at all. It looks nice, but it's definitely no Hitman.

Manhunt was great. The sequel was good, it's just too bad they censored all the good stuff.

I didn't buy the sequel because of that. I've heard a lot of bad reviews about it. Sounds like it's really short too.
Have you played Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines? I know you said you hate RPGs, but it's more like Deus Ex, than Final Fantasy. It's a great game, just buggy as hell. The thing I hated about it was that you pretty much are forced to be either Camarilla or Anarch. The Sabbat are treated as the bad guys, but in VtM they really weren't--well no more or less than most other groups of vampires. The point of the pnp game was moral ambiguity, while Bloodlines kind of makes it all seem black and white.

No I meant in real life. But that is some of the shit you do in Sims.

Assassin's Creed let me down. It ended up feeling like an unfinished project. People who rent it will buy it because its great for about a week. After that you realize it's unbelieveably repetetive.

No I meant in real life. But that is some of the shit you do in Sims. My one question was - how could it be bad to have more options? Do you think that means other games feel they have to do more to compete with the Sims' success?

More options are great, as long as it's fun. MS created a lame achievement system for XBL that's really making gaming lame though. A lot of people just play games now to get achievements and raise their pointless gamerscore.
I know this is supposed to add replayability to a game, but it's a dumb system. Some PC games let you alter the game, to create your own plot, missions, levels, even a whole new game if you're that dedicated. The PC version of Oblivion has some very genius mods--some of which should have always been part of the game--while the XBox version has some retarded achievements that don't really add anything to the game.
MMOs, especially WoW are another problem. They only make money if they keep people's attention. So they add all sorts of tedious, pointless stuff to try and accomplish that. WoW is big shit in the gaming world, and now many developers are trying to imitate it even with offline games.
