No, this is not about a horror movie called Blood. This is about Blood in horror movies. Because I think we all notice it.
I'm going on another investigative journey into the world of Horror. And the next topic is - Horror Movie Blood.
Does anyone here remember what the blood looked like in some of their favorite movies? Anyone want to talk about some of their favorite bloody scenes in movies?
There are a few notes to be taken beforehand. As we all know, most older Horror movies were Black and White. So, if they ever had blood in them, you didn't notice. Historically, Psycho and Night of the Living Dead were some of the first Black and White Horror movies to use blood. And if you know the famous story of Psycho's shower scene, you know Alfred Hitchcock used chocolate syrup for the blood because in Black and White movies, you won't see the color brown. You'll just see a dark color. And red looks dark in Black and White cinematography.
When color Horror films first started to use blood, it was ultra-red. And looked like melted red crayons. Does anyone know some of the first color Horror films to use blood?

I will be talking more about Movie Blood after my research tonight.
I wish I had some kind of a Screen Capture device then, I could do a big thing about how the blood looked in every horror movie and what category they fit into (Dark, realistic red / or, bright Melted Crayon). But alas... I do not.

The blood in the real Dawn of the Dead was fuckin' awful. I think it is pretty safe to say that KNB or Savini is behind the majority of people's favorites. The hanging death with the scythe in Hostel 2 was great as far as newer films go.The chainsaw-death in Dead and Breakfast is also Top 5 material.
