This is just a fun thing, but- what movies do you think belong in a Horror Movie Hall of Fame? If there were one, for instance, that were nationally recognized. This is not just for the "best" horror films ever made, but for the most popular ones throughout the history of cinema. Which movies do you think belong there?
Oh- and when you submit some choices, let's try not to swamp the topic out with 100, 200, 300 movie titles. Let's each take turns, and submit 10 titles maximum on each turn.

Manos is kind of famous (or infamous) with many horror fans. It's due a little recognition just for that.
Some I'd add:
1. Exorcist 2. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3. Dead Trilogy 4. Zombie 5. The Beyond 6. Halloween 1 and 2 7. Friday the 13th 1, 2, 4, and 6. Maybe 3(first time he wears the trademarked mask) and 7(just one of my favorites of the series). 8.Suspira 9. Nosferatu 10. Faust 11. House of Wax (Price version) 12. Psycho 13. The Birds 14. Dracula (Lugosi) 15. Horror of Dracula (most of the Hammer Dracular films actually) 16. The Shining 17. lol too many to name really

Which is exactly why I suggested 10 was good enough. But, since almost no one is here, it's more than okay to break a rule. Just don't go over 20!
I'll be back with my suggestions later. And maybe a design for something that incorporates all of your choices into some kind of actual Hall.

Nice job,Laz and thanks for the Beyond synop. Will probably pick up soon. Fulci did that and Zombi, correct? I would try to add Return of the Living Dead to my list as well. Took zombies in a whole new direction.Near Dark is my favorite Vamp movie so that's why it is on there. As a young Malbowski, the part in Poltergeist when the steak starts moving nearly made me shit myself!

The Beyond really isn't a zombie movie. They were written in to appease German distributors who wanted another Zombie. The movie was originally written as a haunted house story, and should be thought of that way. If you sit down looking for a good zombie movie, you'll be sorely disapointed. It is a great movie though.

Nice job, Laz and thanks for the Beyond synop. Will probably pick up soon. Good luck, the Anchor Bay DVD is out of print and commands upwards of $40 at least for a new copy on places like Amazon.com. The copy I have is the Diamond DVD called, Seven Doors of Death. After literally months of research, I discovered this is actually the UNCUT version of the movie, taken from the laserdisc version of The Beyond, only with the title SDoD edited into the moment where the words "The Beyond" would be on the screen. And it's in Widescreen, so even if the audio isn't the big 5.1 showiness of Anchor Bay, it's more than adequate if you need to see the movie (which I did when I bought the DVD, brand new, for $4 - worth every penny). Fulci did that and Zombie, correct? Yep. I would try to add Return of the Living Dead to my list as well. Done. The Beyond really isn't a zombie movie. They were written in to appease German distributors who wanted another Zombie. The movie was originally written as a haunted house story I did not know that. Anyone know if that's in the IMDb Trivia section for the movie? So, now we know who to blame for the bad special effects- Fulci wasn't even trying to do his Zombie-quality work. Originals only, T.sorry but i cant keep the blob remake off any list Understandable. plus its not one of these new crappy remakes.. forget the 50's blob..the 80's blob is THE ONLY blob Well, the 50's version of The Blob is history. A very influencial film. The likes of which without, we would not have had such 80's classics as Killer Klowns from Outer Space, The Stuff, Creepshow, Critters, and a whole host of other 50's inspired films (whether they be remakes, or not) to come out during the 1980's- which was a huge subgenre of horror, fantasy, and sci-fi films.
