People have a lot of differing opinions when it comes to horror movie prequels. Some say they ruin the original, while others say the add much needed "oomph" to the storyline.
What are your favorite horror prequels? Furthermore, what are the worst prequels?

Prequels aren't necessarily good or bad. They should be judged individually. Some movies are prime candidates for a good prequel. However most are just forced, motivated entirely by milking audiences for all they are worth.

I think that Lowkey is spot-on with his assessment of prequels. Texas The Beginning added nothing to the genre or series whatsoever. Ginger Snaps Back was decent and deserves recognition. Never seen Hannibal but would give it a shot.

I thought Hannibal Rising was a very well made film. The acting was great, the cinematography was top-notch, and the kills were brutal. It was a great addition to the series.

It's funny how critics pick at Rob Zombie for telling a lot of back-story with Halloween but I have never heard anyone complain about Hannibal showing Dr. Lector's origins. Still want to see it though. Cannibals eat his sister?

No offense, but I think they are all absolutely worthless to the series they are made in. They can only be interesting on their own. But the trouble is that people judge them based on the series they fit in with. And they shouldn't be made in a series, they should exist on their own. But they don't. So, I'm against them. Generally speaking.
