Michael, he's just better than the others.
And c'mon, the Shatner mask rules.

I'll take the hockey mask over Captain Kirk anyday.

Jason all the way. He's just iconic of the era of when I was really first getting into horror. And his look is just pure slasher cool-ass horror. It's unexplainable. You sort of either get it or you don't. All the other villains are just playing catch-up.

^^^ I gotta agree completely. There's simply no way to improve upon the "slasher" look beyond Jason Voorhees. It's just.............perfect.

Pinhead.Hands down, scary as hell with a cool back story.Look where he resides and what he gets up to in our world. As for Chucky,I was a fan when I was younger. But now, if there was a 3 ft tall midget coming after me, I would be spooked for a second and then proceed to toss that little turd all over the place. But I like Puppet Master so who am I to talk.
p.s. Jason would be a close second.

I kind of think Chucky was a cool looking villain, but when it came to talking, he always seemed to be grudging of the fact that he was his size. He complained too much, basically. That's the reason a lot of people now say he isn't scary. Which they do. And they never used that to their advantage. He would complain and the whole movie tailored itself to that. He was always the main character in the sequels. So, it was like the film treated him as though 'he' was the one in jeopardy. There's a moment in Bride of Chucky that I really like to think is symbolic / metaphoric / representative of the whole series- when the cop almost finds the dead sheriff's body in the trunk and the score gets suspenseful because... Chucky (and Tiffany, in this case) will be caught!
Honestly, just the fact that the design of Chucky in the sequels looked freaky was what made the scenes where he was hiding scary. But yeah, I can definitely remember some moments in the sequels being scary. The part with Andy running around in the basement and kitchen at night and the part with the executive alone in his penthouse.
Pinhead is cool because of his voice. But his deadliness works better when he's seen and not heard. In a way, I think he as a villain is weaker because of the way he was presented, sequel after sequel. How many double entendres can they do about 'pleasure and pain'? The movies kind of became FX-driven schlock. All that gave the first movie credibility and had power to it, suddenly became a cheap punchline.
I do think all the villains became watered down or less appealing through the sequel process because a weak movie can't really support the villain, they kind of sink with the ship. And clearly, I think Leatherface, Pinhead, The Tall Man, whatever they brought back for all the Re-Animator sequels, etc just lost their overall appeal in most of their sequels. Only the Friday and Nightmare films retained some sense of vision and ambition until Jason Goes to Hell and Freddy Vs. Jason, where the quality of everything onscreen turned to pure shit.
Only when the filmmakers had a brilliant idea for the whole movie do I think the villains look any better, or benefit from it. Bride of Chucky was an excellent example. But a villain is only as strong as the movie they're in.

I have to say that the Phantasm series is probably the best for not going too far out there and sticking to a basic storyline. I had to get it for my collection (Jason X) but this is,in my opinion, the biggest chunk of Shit-Celluloid to ever fall from the atmosphere. Whoever come up with that is a turd.Pure and simple. That ruined Jason.

^^^ Yeah, Jason X is a complete disgrace to the entire F13 franchise. I refuse to even acknowledge it as part of the series.

What about worst "Nightmare"? I gotta go with Dream Child. "Halloween"? Weird pick but I have to go with H20(Not counting part 3) "Chainsaw"? Easy.Part 4 Next Generation.
Hellbound is actually my favorite from the Hellraiser series.I was actually sad the first time I seen all the cenobites get smoked.Great sounds from the "Doctor" too.

^^^ Nightmare on Elm Street - I'd go with Wes Craven's New Nightmare. I just didn't buy into the concept.
Halloween - Anything past Part IV. Especially H2O. Btw, I actually really like Part III. But I tend to view that as it's own movie instead of part of the Halloween franchise.
TCM - I agree, Part IV is pretty awful. That'd be my pick too.
Hellraiser - The original is my favorite of the series; I'd go with Hellraiser: Deader as my least favorite, although I've yet to view Hellraiser: Prophecy, so I don't know if that one was worse than Deader or not.
What's your pick for worst of the Child's Play series? I'd go with Part III. A lot of people would say Seed is worse, but I actually liked it a lot. Although, I will admit, it's probably more of a black comedy than a true horror film. Kind of the same way that I like Satan's Little Helper.

Jason did look good in it. I know that the female doctor gets her head turned into a snow cone in that one. I found "Freddy vs. Jason" Jason to look very shitty.Wonder why they didn't go with Kane Hodder? He's taller than Robert Englund.
