I would, and have. I went and saw Star Wars when it was re-released in the theaters. Only because they were a childhood favorite of mine and I wasn't around to see them back in the day on the big screen. I also saw Apocolypse Now: Redux! in a theater a few years back because I'd always wanted to see it and never got around to it. Overall, I'd only go see a re-release in a theater if it was either a movie I already liked a lot or a movie that I hadn't yet seen but wanted to. Poltergeist is neither for me so I'd definitely skip it.

My best friend saw Scream in the theaters when it came out and I was always damn jealous of her... but I would die for a chance to see Suspiria, The Evil Dead, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Phantasm, Bad Taste, Nightmare City, something like that in the theaters. Something that would use the surrounds a lot, with a lot of action, gags, a lot going on.

^^^ Suspiria would be mesmerizing on the big screen!
I also wish I had been alive back in the day to have my first viewing of Jaws in a theater.

The only time I ever went to see a re-released film was when they re-released The Exorcist as "The Version You've Never Seen" But I would go more often to re-releases if there were ever any in my town.

The aparment complex I live in is owned by my college (University of Minnesota) and it has a 30 person mini theater you can rent out for groups and watch whatever you want. A lot of times my friends and I will rent it out and watch some classics we never got to see in a real theater. The screen's only about half as big as a real one, but it's the next best thing to seeing your favorites re-released in a real theater. Plus, it's always clean and you don't have to deal with a bunch of random yahoos making a big racket through the whole damn thing.
