What's your take on the Resident Evil movies?
I feel that the games had the potential to be turned into great movies. However, if you follow the games, it's blatantly obvious that the movies hardly followed the games. I didn't particularly like any of the actors/actress' that they picked for the films. Ugh, especially Milla Jovovich. Capcom should never have sold rights.
Has anyone seen Resident Evil: Extinction?
I wanted to see that, being a fan of the game series, but I've heard that it sucked... more than the first two. I don't want to waste my time going to theaters to see it if it's really that bad.
What's your favorite movie from the series?
I haven't seen Extinction, but if I had to choose... I'd definitely say the first. I hated Apocalypse.
Does anyone play the games?
(Sorry if there was a topic like this already posted. I didn't notice one, but I could've easily over-looked it, being the ditz that I am.)

i play the resident evil games and have for along time..the games are great..and you are right the movies dont follow the games at all which is a dissapointment..i dont really remember the first movie all that much..but the second i didnt think was all that bad..as just a movie...as a resident evil movie tho i didnt care for it because it didnt follow the game at all...i dont think that or the first should have even had the resident evil name attached to it..
as for the casting....i really didnt think it was all that bad..milla jovovich i thought worked..it was just everything else that didnt make it feel like a resident evil movie...
and for extinction..i have not seen it yet..i will check it out when it comes to dvd..more so because im a resident evil fan tho and not because i think it looks that good..
but overall i think they really can make a great resident evil movie...they just havent yet..what i think they should do is take the first resident evil game and make a movie directly based on that..it would satisy the fans alot more i think...and then then can do it on resident evil 2..which i think may have been the best game

I love the games, and have only seen the first RE movie. I wasn't impressed with it, which is why I haven't watched the others yet. I mean I put RE 1 on the same level as Day of the Dead 2 and Children of the Living Dead. I guess you can at least say it wasn't as bad as Zombiez though. I'll eventually get around to watching them I guess, but I'm not in any hurry.
Have you played Dead Rising? It's different from RE, and I think I like it more. RE has just become a huge conspiracy theory over the years. DR is a breath of fresh air really. I'll keep playing new RE games as long as they are good, but for me they'll never be able to recapture the magic of the first two. As good as part four was, it still didn't have as much impact on me as the first one.
Like I said though DR is different. It's got unlimited zombies, and they come in hoards. You have to cut your way through them every step of the way. The boss fights are pretty good too. Instead of some kind of mutant, you get a crazy clown with chainsaws, a doomsday cult, a Nam vet with a machete having a flash-back, etc. I definitely hope they make a series out of it.

These games all kick ass!Code Veronica X is probably my favorite. As far as the movies i liked the first one best.Apocalypse was cool for Nemesis but a huge waste of the Nikolai character.I went to Extinction with modest hopes and was pretty disappointed. The story is decent but the last battle was horrid and even the appearance of Wesker was a letdown(where's the red eyes)?Next one should follow the RE4 storyline as opposed to a prequel...

I'll try to log in first before posting next time. Now that I think about it, they will probably use Wesker for the next "boss fight", so the red eyes will come.

I don't think there's any point to seeing any of these movies. They really seem like The Matrix but with a woman and some zombies. Another thing... Uwe Boll makes video game horror movies but everyone just says, skip them and watch Resident Evil. So in a way, Uwe Boll has enhanced the reputation of Resident Evil by imitating those movies. Which isn't saying much.

Love the games, I remember when I first got Resident Evil: Director's Cut, a friend and I spent like 15 hours straight playing it. Loved the sequels for the most part, too.
The movies, however, suck. I'll see the new one but I'm not expecting much.

I'm a zombie nut, so I try to watch every zombie movie that comes along. The RE movies aren't the worst by a longshot, but they are among the most boring. It's bad when something like Zombi 3 or Nightmare City can be called more entertaining than movies that are light years ahead of them in production values.

Okay, so I watched Resident Evil: Extinction earlier and it was actually kinda good. Still not great but easily better than the first two.
