The belief that the number 23 has a power to it that can be linked to dozens of biblical, horrific, or philisophical events?

In my opinion, even though 23 can be linked to a lot of things, I don't believe there's a power behind it. But the movie about it was good

Numerology is usually so vague, and liberal in how it's applied that any number can come to represent anything. It just takes some creative manipulation.
Some scholars believe that the number 666(or in the past 616 and 665) spell out the name Caesar Nero. Christians that lived in his day had pretty good reason to consider him the anti-Christ too. Another popular theory is that it represents Domitian, who also persecuted Christians and lived in the time that the book of Revelations claimed that the Apocalyspe would take place.
Interestingly enough, to show how arbitrary the Hebrew gematria is, people have used it to make 666 represent other names, most commonly their own, and Jesus Christ.
