Well, my Birthday's in October, but other than that day, I plan on watching at least 5 movies per day (since I work in a video/DVD rental/buying place, I can watch movies there too - so I won't have to stop the marathon). On Halloween day, I plan more on watching TV specials and stuff - Roseanne, The Simpsons, Daria, Spongebob Squarepants, Garfield, Home Improvement (if I can find those eps), The Worst Witch, maybe some Disney stuff, etc.

Mom and Pop store or a dirty Blockbuster?
I worked in a movie store for 4 years. Good to meet a fellow vet!

The owner, to the best of my knowledge, was never married. And started the store in his 30's or late 20's. I don't ask personal questions of people, so I don't know much about him.

Well, we will call it a small, independent business then. Always good to hear of those. Is it really that personal a question, Laz? I mean, it's not like you are asking him about his package or anything.

The only thing we can do is try to support locals from time to time. Spread the money around. It's silly but I really do believe that everyone deserves a piece of the pie. From Walmart to Meynards to Lowes to Target to Zellers to Canadian Tire to Dirty Joe's Porn Emporium.... never mind that last one.

The Asians have made good horror films and, WITH THE POSSIBLE EXCEPTION OF Brotherhood of the Wolf which I haven't seen yet, French Horror is not only so far behind Asian Horror that it's practically non-existent (just a turn of phrase), but it also completely sucks.

What is your beef with French horror Laz? Yes, yes, I'm sure you explained it somewhere but I would like a refresher. After watching a good chunk of both, I would say that French horror has a lot more variety than..... long-haired ghost girls and curses.
Brotherhood is a wicked film, BTW. 8/10

What is your beef with French horror Laz? The ineptitude, the pretentiousness, they think they're extreme, they have no style, and the constant linking violence with sexuality. Remember, this (France) is the nation of Auteurs - every director making a statement with everything in their films. What exactly do you think the point of Haute Tension and Irreversible are? Basically, it's the absolute worst of American horror, only more graphic and much more violent and sexist toward women. That's the only reason people like them, because they think it's extreme. It's just stupid. But I'm willing to give Brotherhood a chance. Seriously, French horror has no brains. I don't like ratty, wannabe "brutal" films with no brains. Horror has been, in people's delusions, getting by on what they say is "brutal" - alone. But the genre can't survive without intelligence. And French horror is the king of no-brains horror right now. Yes, yes, I'm sure you explained it somewhere but I would like a refresher. After watching a good chunk of both, I would say that French horror has a lot more variety than... long-haired ghost girls and curses. How many Asian horror films have you seen? Are the only ones you watch ones that you know the U.S. have remade?

We'll call it 10. The original Ju-On, Ringu, and Dark Water are in there. One called "the new blood", and some others. All had the same thing.
I haven't seen Shutter, One Missed Call, or The Eye but I am willing to bet my Bob Probert rookie card that they all have one thing in common... long-haired ghost girls.

I did see The Eye. Don't waste your time. It's INCREDIBLY dull. But, no long-haired ghost girls. That I recall. It's about a woman who sees ghosts after having her eye "fixed" with surgery. Unbeknownst to her, she had someone else's eye put in her eye socket and when she looks in the mirror, she sees another woman's face. The only actual scene of horror was already done in that movie Independence Day, the scene where the street gets all the fire and blowback from an explosion when the aliens shot the White House and a lot of big office buildings. What it is mostly is a violin player who thinks normal little kids are talking to her, but they're all ghosts and she doesn't know it. Then she goes on a search to find out who's eye it is. Nothing happens pretty much.
