I'm holding out hope that it might actually be good. I know it's just someone's desire to cash in on a classic, but I think Rob appreciates it enough not to totally screw it up. He's not some coked out, softcore director trying to make a name for himself at least.

I usually loathe remakes, but I actually have the feeling I'm going to like this. Even though I'll go in wanting to hate it.

Anyone else wondering why this movie is being released now instead of late October? Seems to me their marketing wizards dropped the ball on that one..............While they're at it, why not remake 'It's a Wonderful Life' and release it in July!

I heard someone explain on another Horror message board what the reasoning most likely was (for it being released in August/September) and it made a lot of sense... Don't remember, but it had something to do with money. Something to do with I think a holiday where that movie is likely to make more money.
Anyway, count me as one person not interested in seeing the movie. After seeing the basic TV spot now about 4/5 times, it really doesn't look very good. Visually, it just looks weak. Dusty. Too much dust. That style is not very interesting or scary to me. Plus, the action sequences (even though surely they're cut differently in the trailer) don't look very appealing.

I'd bet it's being released August 31st because it's the closest weekend to Labor Day. Then everyone will end up going to see it over the holiday, whereas if they released it closer to Halloween they don't have that guaranteed day of business.

Looks like this will be better than most of the horror remakes that have been coming out. Then again, that's not much of a feat, but still, I'm going to go this in the theater. I'm sure it won't be nearly as good as the original, but it looks interesting.
