My parents first introduced me to horror with the Friday the 13th movies and the Halloween series when I was around 2-years-old. Other families have days where they play board games together or something, but we sit down and watch Jason hack up unfortunate teens.

I loved movies as a kid that were dark and imaginative. Which a lot of great horror movies are. I didn't watch many horror movies as a kid. But as a very-early teenager, I got my own TV and had cable in my bedroom. So I could watch any R-rated / Unrated movie they showed on HBO and Cinemax in my own room and my parents never knew about it. That & Scream made me go to my video store and rent as many as interested me. That's when I saw all the sequels to Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Leprechaun, and a couple other franchises.

Well, as a child I always liked the kids movies that scared the crap out of me better than the fluffy sunshine-and-rainbows variety (you would have been more likely to catch me watching Return To Oz, or Something Wicked This Way Comes than something like the Care Bears). I was watching horror films at a young age too because my parents loved (still love) horror movies and would rent them for my brothers and I all the time. Good times ;D And it turned me into the horror geek I am today.

I've mentioned it before, but by mom's friend used to bring her kids over every Friday night, and they'd all spend the night. Wanda was a real big horror buff, and so if one was on, we'd always watch it. The first ones I remember real well are Friday the 13th 3, Psycho 2, Ghost Story, and Swamp Thing(if you can count that as horror).

I more or less wanted to see them out of curiosity. My parents wouldn't let me watch them so naturally I was dying to see what made them so taboo.
