My favorite director by far, Stanley Kubrick has made a number of classic films. What are your favorites?
I love "The Shining" and "A Clockwork Orange", but "2001" is a favorite as well.

Dr. Strangelove.
I really hate 2001, both as a movie, and as a novel. Kubrick did an ok job with the material he had to work with, but unfortunately Arthur C. Clarke just isn't good at fiction. His stories are always just a way to explain some complicated engineering task in layman's terms--which he's really good at for sure. His plots however are always weak, and the characters 2 dimensional. Ben Bova, and Stephen Baxter are much better imo.
I did read the novel, and three sequels before, watching the movie. I think that's what really ruined the movie for me. Since I already knew the story, all that was left for me in the movie were some heavily dated special effects.

I've only seen The Shining. Which is, as a horror film, incredibly overrated.

Not a fan at all, I hated 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Shining. A Clockwork Orange is one of the most over-rated films ever.
But I do love me some of his earlier stuff: Paths Of Glory, The Killing, and Dr. Strangelove are all fantastic.

I hate to say it (because Piggsy is cool), but I'm glad we agree.

The Shining and A Clockwork Orange would be my favorites I guess. I haven't yet seen most of his other films except for 2001, which I found to be incredibly boring.

Full Metal Jacket. Probably my favorite war movie. Other than that...

Either that or Platoon. Apocalypse got shitty after they get to the French Villa. The decapitated heads are cool though.
