Ho,Ho,Ho! I have to go with Christmas Story. Amusing throughout and shows an accurate portrayal of a better time.(according to my Dad)

I like all the choices listed, but I voted for Other, since it's just not Christmas until I've watched Miracle On 34th Street (the '47 version, not the god-awful remake with Dylan McDermott)

Scrooged anf Christmas Vacation are great, but I'm going to have to go with A Christmas Story. That one and the Grinch (the real, original Grinch) are what make Christmas for me.

A Christmas Story for me. With Nat'l Lampoon's and Home Alone tied for a fairly close second.

It's impossible to pick just one. They're all so good at doing different things. Christmas Story has the period-piece nostalgia factor and does that better than any of the other Christmas movies. Scrooged does the "I hate Christmas" black-humor better than any other movie. Home Alone does the big blockbuster fun, cartoon-bad guys, comic destruction thing better than any other movie. The Rankin-Bass claymation / animated TV-movies were golden-oldies better than any other TV production. And National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation was just the best National Lampoon Vacation movie. Actually, Christmas Vacation was the best Christmas-disaster movie. Home Alone was a little more family-emotion. Christmas Vacation was more adult comedy than family comedy. my real choice would be home alone 2...which was better then the first No it wasn't. I like it a lot, but the first movie is better in almost every way. In part 2, yes Kevin has a better purpose- to save the orphanage's money. But all the gags were funnier and more clever in the first movie, the one-liners were better, the mother had a better part, John Candy, and the Wet Bandits were more amusing.

i actually think part 2 is funnier...i like them both tho so i can see how you would like the first better..i have just always been more of a fan of part to because i thought it was funnier..especially the second half..gotta love the brick part ;D

Yeah, that was funny. But after that, the house booby-trap gags from part 1 were better. They lasted longer, were more clever, and there were more of them. You waited a little longer for it to come up than in part 2, but part 1 just had more to prepare for. The buildup was worth it and the build up was better in part 1.

Sorry guys but I have to go with "Jack Frost". It was sad and yet somewhat cheerful for the Christmas spirit at the same time. I also love love love " A Charlie Brown Christmas".

Oh yeah? I sort of include that in my mind with all the Rankin-Bass stuff. Just because they made Frosty the Snowman which wasn't claymation, and then all the claymation stuff. But Peanuts / Charlie Brown specials are always class acts. Whatever holiday they're representing.

Gotta go with the Capra classic It's A Wonderful Life, that and A Christmas Story are two staples of my Christmas movie viewing.

^^^ You're not missing much, in my opinion. I've never got what the big deal is with that movie. And that's coming from someone who generally enjoys oldies of all kinds.

The more I watch old movies, the more I'm surprised when they turn out to be not completely offensive. But what I've seen of Wonderful Life is just too damn sappy. Not to mention I'm not crazy about James/Jimmy Stewart. He overacts quite often and I don't think he's really interesting anyway. I couldn't even get through the first 30 minutes of Vertigo because he bores me so much.

^^^EXACTLY! It's so overly sappy that I feel like little blue Disney birdies are flying out of my television. ............................And Stewart bothers the hell outta me too. After ten minutes of that movie I wish he was still alive so I could kick him in the groin. ;D

One of the reasons he always bothered me so much was that he was so aggressively shocked and upset at the supernatural goings on in the movie. He went so far into the "DON'T YOU KNOW WHO I AM? TELL THESE PEOPLE WHO I AM!! I'M NOT CRAZY!!" thing that it dragged the film down and almost made it a thriller. You know, had the film not desperately used a lack of music (if I'm remembering correctly) to signal that "it'll all be okay in the end, just go with it and see where this takes you." In my opinion, it was sort of like this was A Christmas Carol / Scrooge without the part that makes you know it's just a short trip to show the guy visions. I don't remember anyone giving him the guarantee that he would return to the world of the living after seeing the world he sees without him in it. So, he goes batshit.
