I totally agree. The only way I'll go to a movie in a theater is if it's either a movie I'm 100% sure will be worth it, or on a date with my lady. Other than that, it's a total fuckin' scam. That's why I'll never feel bad about using torrent files.

My theater charges 10 bucks a person at night (and 8 for a matinee), 9.50 for a large popcorn, and 4 bucks for a small drink. So, for me and the boyfriend to go see a movie, it costs about 37 dollars. The noise of all the stupid tweenagers talking on their cell phones, texting each other, and doing their very best to show off to the tweens of the opposite sex while the movie is going on is thrown in for free. Now, for that same price, we can wait for the movie to hit DVD, buy it for 20 bucks, supply our own drinks and popcorn, and actually get to enjoy the movie without sticky food stains on the floor/seats and noise from inconsiderate fucktards on their phones
Which is why you will almost never find me at a movie theater unless it's either a movie I'm almost guaranteed to love (Hairspray) or a Big Super-Duper Summer Blockbuster Movie Event that would be better seen on a large screen (Pirates of the Caribbean, Spider-Man, Harry Potter).
Fuck movie theaters. They can go to hell.

Wow, I guess I'm lucky.
Local theater here only charges like $6 but they show jack shit most of the time, it's only 3 screens and they focus mostly on stuff everyone can see (Big blockbusters mostly).
The theater I usually go to is about 45 minutes away, they usually charge $8 but the matinees are only $4. As for food, I never eat theater food so I usually just stick with a soda.

Yeah, and I waited 2 years to see Devil's Rejects, got it for $7.50 - Widescreen, Uncut, 2-disc DVD and the bonus documentary on the 2nd disc is 2 hours and 30 minutes. That's a way better deal than what you get with the theaters.

Yep. That's exactly why movie theaters need to straighten up their act and make it worth it to go to the movies again, or else in the next 10 years or so they're gonna be doomed.

You know, I hear they started raising the prices or whatever because of VHS and DVD, and now: online downloading and buying of movies, DVD ripping, people recording movies in the theaters with cellphone cameras and stuff.
And in business, they sort of teach you that when you have more Demand, the prices go down lower. But when there are fewer people going to movies, they're forced to make the prices go up.
