I have the movie on DVD. And I haven't been watching HBO recently (or since around 1996), but at least I know my DVD will be in the original widescreen. And I have the Uncut special edition, which I saw at Wal-Mart for $5.50. So, you could get it if it's there for pretty cheap.
Anyway, it takes awhile to warm up to, but it's a great movie. And as far as actors go... I am pretty accepting, so it doesn't bother me that Christian Bale plays it funny sometimes. And he's not like Jim Carrey. He's much more restrained than Jim Carrey. Not only that, but he played that role harder than any serial killer I can recall ever seeing in any other horror movie.
So the movie is a complete winner.

I enjoy the movie a lot too. It's a great, dark, and fairly non-serious indictment of 1980's social elitism, vicious and power-hungry men, drugged up and emotionless women, Reagan hell.

Plus, you gotta love Christian Bale hacking up people to Huey Lewis and the News!

Well, just 1 guy. But... the thing I loved about that scene was the thing the original Book's writer, Brett Easton Ellis, actually Hated. Christian's funky dancing into the kitchen to get the axe and his "Moon Walk" back into the living room.

Yeah, I loved that part in that scene! Also, I like how he was talking about the music right before murdering that guy.

I never understood the "Music Review" thing much, myself. Except that, technically, the character is what many people call a "Tool," so it barely matters.

The first few times I saw it, it was pretty disturbing, but I was a lot younger.. I'd check it out but there's no HBO in Canada. Anyways, has anyone seen the sequel with the girl from 'that 70's show', wow is it awful, and it shows no blood what-so-ever. It pretty much ruined the first movie for me after watching it.

I agree, biscuit. But I try and ignore the sequel, as not to diminish the awesomeness of the first.

yeah, why the hell anyone thought Mila Kunis would make a good serial killer is WAY beyond me. Terrible sequel to a great original as usual...................

I actually don't think there's anything wrong with their choice of who the serial killer was... they just weren't prepared to try and make it believable. They were making a crappy, direct-to-video sequel, and besides, William Shatner. She had all the reasons she needed to do it. I just can't figure out why he's in it...
