Anyone at all?
I think it's hilarious that there are so many people in America freaking out about this. Apparently, there's this thing in Mexico killing dozens of people called "Swine Flu," and one kid in Ohio went to Mexico and got it, so he went back to Ohio and got sick, then all these people in America started freaking out. Now, they're apparently closing religious schools, and all these people who went to Mexico and who've come back are staying at home and refusing to go outside...
By the way, that kid in Ohio is apparently making a full recovery at his home and is expected to be perfectly okay. Which of course, leads me to think this is like some kind of joke or something. It makes me laugh to myself so hard that there was this panic spread epidemic at some school in New York where now all the kids are staying home and not going back.
On the other hand, even though they say that Ohio kid is getting better, news reports have said that 20 people have been diagnosed with the Swine Flu in this country so far. They say it causes: a high fever, a cough, achy bones, and a hoarse voice.
Right now, it seems like this is just a nasty cold people in the U.S. are getting. But in Mexico, they're saying it's only SUSPECTED that Swine Flu has killed 103 people so far. Technically, we don't know more about it yet. But some are thinking that this is going to be a huge problem.

Okay.
Today's latest is that the numbers of infected have climbed to 68 from yesterday's 20. Not a good thing for stamping out rumors that this is the new plague. So much for: This will all blow over quietly and quickly... Grantedly, there seems to be a little less panic today in America - I think. But, now it's spread to New Zealand and Israel. And the numbers of dead in Mexico have gone over 150.

Updates on the Swine Flu Crisis... And none of them are good.
The disease is now registered on Level 4 of the WHO's famous 6-Level Warning System. A worldwide outbreak is happening, the death toll in Mexico is still rising, it's spread to 3 more countries (Spain, Germany, Australia) as well as the other countries I previously mentioned, there are 1300 new suspected cases, and it's now spreading quickly in America. It's in 10 States and has killed the first American citizen. The people studying this virus have no answers yet and they predict that it's not going to slow down. The virus might be on Level 5 now as I speak, and if it gets to Level 6, there is no question that this will go from a worry and a depressing inconvenience - to a world wide full-scale panic.
On the bright side, I'm told that Swine Flu is nothing compared to earlier pandemics in history. 1957 and 1968 pandemics wiped out 3 million total. And in 2003, another virus/disease killed almost 300, which is less than the current Swine Flu numbers.
Do you guys think we should be worried?

Not too much new news, except that it's still spreading faster in the U.S. It's now in 11 states, 1 up from yesterday.

As of April 28 2009, 13,000 deaths have been confirmed from regular flu since January 2009. www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/04/28/regular.flu/Last time I checked the current swine flu numbers have worldwide deaths around 30 (the number has been dropping). In other words, panic...?

Last time I checked the current swine flu numbers have worldwide deaths around 30 (the number has been dropping). I haven't read up on any news of this since last week. The mainstream media coverage has been going down. But last I read, the death toll in Mexico alone was a lot more than 30, Nick.

Did a little digging. As of May 5th, apparently, we were at 27 deaths globally. As of today, it looks like Mexico is up to 66, and we're at 5. So that's 71 total dead as of today. Still a little less than 13K from regular ol' flu.

I'm surprised your parents weren't an illegal union themselves.
Aren't you the product of inbreeding?

If you saw my Mom, you wouldn't pretend to know what she does in her spare time - making us think you ever spent the night with her makes you look desperate.
Seriously, T, you think you can insult me by insulting my Mom? I'm not a Mama's boy. You probably are, though. Just don't tell me it excited you when you heard your Mom banging her brother down the hell when you were young...
