Thanks. I'll stick with this one from now on, though.
For some reason, I'm really into the Jason character now.

I'm always into watching him. He's a damn cool character. He seems to be half human and half monster. He's definitely cooler than Michael Myers. I mean, when you add the monster FX and the blades and the blood & gore and the woods at night... It's a classic scenario.

I only wish Paramount will start caring about the fans and start releasing good DVD's.
Fine, if they really don't want to put them out in their uncut versions, I could live with that. But no commentaries, no featurettes, no NOTHING?!
The most we get is a trailer, albeit an extremely grainy one.

Well, there are featurettes on the boxset. Not enough in my opinion. But added together, the special features total over 3 hours. Then, there are 4 commentaries- for parts 3, 6, 7, and 8. The one for part 3 is great, it has 4 of the cast members. Part 6 is great as well and has the writer-director who is very smart.

I don't have the box set, as I have all the DVD's already. I might if I can find it super cheap.
What do you think about the new DVD covers they put on parts 5-8? I cut them out, printed out the old ones, and slipped them in. I have no idea why they changed them, they were classic!

I agree. The new cover for Part VII wasn't that bad. But all the others were horrid. What I guess they were trying to do was make them look like newer movies. They don't really give a shit if someone buys them and goes- WAIT! THIS WASN'T MADE IN 2003 or whatever year. False advertising, and completely patronizing the people that make up the group most likely to even plunk down money for it.
But I also have the entire Paramount series on VHS, so I have the original covers too.

I figured out how to make animated avatars in Gimp. I'll post a guide if anyone is interested. It's pretty easy.

You need three things: 1. Movie, show, whatever to use. It needs to be on your hard drive. acquire it however you normally do. 2. Gimp. Free download here: gimp.org/downloads/3. Movie Snapshot: Free download here: www.cd2html.de/moviesnapshot.en.html If you prefer another program for taking screenshots use that instead. Step one. Open your movie in Movie Snapshot. Use the slider bar to find the section you want to use. Use << and >> to step frame by frame. Save each frame you wish to use on your PC, individually. Name them however you wish, but to keep things neat and in order, its good to use a numbering convention; i.e. image1, image2, image3, etc. Step two. After you have your images, open Gimp. Go to the file tab at the top, and open the first image from the clip. Once it loads, hit ctrl+L to open the layers window. Now just drag the other images into this window, one by one--make sure each is above the previous on the list. There is a button that will move images up or down the list, or you can just drag and drop them. Right click on your image and select filter-->animation--playback to preview it. Step three. Right click image, filter-->animation-->Optimize (for gif). Once it opens your image in a new window, you can close the old one. You'll notice in the layers window, each file now has 100ms in the description. This is the speed. If you need to adjust it, double click on each image and change 100 to whatever you want it to be--lower numbers make it faster, and higher numbers make it slower. Step four: Once you are satisfied with the speed, it's time to scale the image. Just right click it again, and choose image-->scale image. A new window will pop up, and you can change the values to whatever you like. Assuming you want a 100x100 image, change the width to 100. You'll notice that the length automatically scales to keep keep the original proportions. Change length to 100, and click on the chain-looking icon to the immediate right. Width will adjust automatically again, so change it back and click the chain icon again. This will lock the values. Step five. Save your gif. Right click and pick file-->save. You can name your file whatever you wish, just make sure to add .gif to the end, and hit save. A new box appears, and you should make sure "save as animation" is selected, and then hit export. A last window will appear, and you should make sure loop forever is selected--you can also adjust the speed here if you didn't before, and choose to make each frame use the same delay. Finally, hit save and enjoy your new avatar.
