As I'm sure you've all noticed I've got a soft spot for the shapeshifters. So I made this battle to find out which wolf is the king. Matchups will be chosen by me based on a factor that makes the opponents similar. Please make your selections based on which MONSTER you like better, not which movie you like more. If you haven't seen any of the movies than make your selection based on the pictures and monster stats that I've provided. Thanks! REMEMBER, THIS IS A COMPETITION BASED ON JUST THE MONSTERS!!! There will be 12 opening matchups. Winners will move on when they receive 3 votes(including mine), and I will break any ties. The final 3 winners will face off in a round where the highest vote getter will be named champion. The Company of Wolves[glow=red,2,300]*[/glow] VS. Wolfen[glow=red,2,300]***[/glow] This matchup consists of two movies that went the route of using actual live wolves instead of a makeup FX created monster. Here's the stats: The Company of Wolves--R rated version of 'Little Red Riding Hood' --no werewolf rules at all --can only shapeshift after complete trust with the victim is reached --human exterior acts like a "costume" for the wolf inside --very clever and smart --uses charm and sexual appeal to convince people of letting their guard down --can be killed in any normal fashion --relies on MENTAL not PHYSICAL abilities to ensnare it's victims --great transformation sequence as the wolf within "crawls" out the mouth and eventually sheds & shreds the human exterior Wolfen--native american wendigos in New York --werewolf rules do not apply --can shapeshift at will anytime, anywhere --run together in a large, organized pack --kill in order to protect and cleanse the city of those who would corrupt it --very secretive and intelligent --very skilled at moving silently throughout the city's bridges, parks, buildings, etc. --though graceful and stealthy, the kills are gruesome with multiple beheadings, fingers ripped off, organs stolen, and throats torn completely out. --often can only be seen by glowing eyes in the darkness (really simple, yet REALLY spooky. the next time your outside in the dark you'll think you see those eyes everywhere!) --once victim is killed, the head is removed from the body and major organs are taken away and scattered around the city, or are fully consumed. --as beautiful and graceful as they are gruesome and violent Well, there you go. Neither of these are your traditional "werewolf", but that's why they're so great! Go ahead and cast your vote. [glow=red,2,300]Wolfen wins 3 - 1[/glow]

I have absolutely no idea who I'm voting for in this matchup yet. I watch Wolfen about once a month, but I haven't seen "Company" for quite sometime, but I know I really like it too. Have to have a re-watch of it before I'll vote. I have the day off and the forecast shows rain all day, so maybe I'll go do it right now!

I have only seen The Company of Wolves, but it's overrated. Nothing to do with the wolves. So, technically I shouldn't vote. But, I just want to say I loved the two parts of the movie about "the Wounded Wolf" and the obviously inspired by Little Red Riding Hood parts later in the movie.

So you're saying that neither film have Werewolves? Meaning, Wolfen has no wolves either?

Traditional "hollywood" werewolves no. Mortals transforming into wolves yes. I think if you go back and look at the pics above, you'll see that both movies CLEARLY have wolves in them. "Company" is based off a legend from a time that occured centuries before Hollywood "defined" werewolves. Wolfen is based off the Native American folklore of Wendigos/Yaniglanchis. Anyways, all I was asking is that you follow the preset rules of the topic and vote based on the pics and info that was posted (the reason for the rule being that there's not many members, and if you limit the voting to people who've seen the film, it's hard to finish a contest. That's why your movie contests are taking forever to finish.). If you can't do that, then I will kindly ask you to decline participating in this and future matchups.

Alright, after rewatching "Company," I'm going to give a slight edge to Wolfen, and give it my vote. I've talked Wolfen to death in other threads, so I'll spare you all from having to hear me do it again. The vote is now tied at 1 -1. Gonna need a few extra votes on this one. C'mon all you newbies, get in here and vote!

Wolfen sounds kind of like White Wolf's WoD werewolves(Garou). I'm not big on PnP role playing, but WoD has a really interesting backstory and mythology. I was introduced through Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption, and VtM: Bloodlines. I've read a few of the VtM Dark Age novels, but they are not all that great.
I'm definitely going to check Wolfen out ASAP.
