2000'sChappelle's Show That 70's Show 1990'sTales from the Crypt Seinfeld Beavis & Butthead Absolutely Fabulous 1980'sThe Wonder Years 1970'sThe Carol Burnett Show Saturday Night Live The Mary Tyler Moore Show Rowan & Martin's Laugh In Monty Python's Flying Circus 1960'sThe Addams Family Those are all shows that definitely would have crossed my mind if I had thought of them, but I'll admit it- my list was done very quickly. Some of those I haven't seen - anything with Monty Python, Rowan & Martin, Mary Tyler Moore, Arrested Development, Curb y e. And even though I absolutely hate The Wonder Years beyond the words to describe...I would never let that begrudge it's status as a legendary or great show that people loved and enriched their lives somehow. Even though when almost anyone talks about it, all they remember are the most crude or juvenile things about it - like the erections they say they got from that girl (Winny?) and the episodes about condoms or whatever. A lot of those other shows (I've listed in quote) are either genius or damn good in one way or another. The Carol Burnette Show is in my mind one of the greatest 10 shows in the history of All Television. And, I also forgot The Muppet Show (that was the '70s too, wasn't it?). A great show that appeals equally to kids and adults. I loved it as a kid and I know a lot of people who liked it as adults back then.

no1 is good enough to be a critic...every1 has there own opinion so critics shouldnt even excist..which is why everyone of them is a moron Critics aren't morons - you are a moron if you think you see more, overall, than a critic does. You're just deluding yourself into thinking your opinion means as much to others as it does to yourself. And by the way - if everyone's opinions about everything in a movie actually mattered, then people wouldn't have to STUDY to be: Actors, Directors, Writers, Producers, Make Up Effects Artists, Cinematographers, Wardrobe, Gaffers, Set Builders... in short, there would be no MOVIES if there wasn't a right and a wrong way to do something. If your opinion counted more than the people who know what's right and wrong about a movie... there would be no way to MAKE a movie.

all critics are morons and dont see more then any1.. Critics are not morons- saying that is the same as saying they don't know anything they're talking about. But you're only saying that because YOU don't know what they're talking about. Isn't that right? I'm not saying everyone should pay attention to critics. But, be honest for once: you just don't like critics because they say a lot of things you don't like. i can pick apart a movie if i wanted to..i chose not to tho cuz it takes the fun away That's what you think. But why would I watch movies, and talk about them... if it wasn't fun? Are you trying to say critics don't like what they do? Or... are you saying that critics make your sunny day a little cloudier? and there is no wrong or right way..there are different ways..but not a wrong or right way Actually... you are both Wrong and Right about what you just said. There are different ways. That is true. But, there is also right and wrong. And the reason you don't think there is is because you don't know everything about ALL the Different Ways. You're also wrong about Me saying that I do. I don't know everything. I never pretended to. You just say that because- you don't like what I'm often saying. But if you would try to listen to me, you would understand: When I Say I Know Something... I Make Sure I Know It. That is why: you've never seen me talk about Mario Bava- haven't seen any of his movies. The Universal classic Monster Movies: haven't seen any of them. The Hammer Films: haven't seen any of them. '50s sci-fi flicks, Val Lewton, etc. And you've also seen me say plenty of times that I like something. When I like something, I'm just talking about myself. I like SUSPIRIA because of the pretty colors. Does that make the movie a masterpiece? No. Does it play at least a small part in the movie being a masterpieces? Yes. Because no other film did that before Suspiria and used it to enhance and/or effect a completely surreal atmosphere. I like it when a movie shows off a hot guys' body. But guess what? That's only AN ADDED PERK. It has nothing to do with what makes the movie good or bad. In fact... if anything, it makes the movie bad, not good. Because who gives a fuck about what I like? Nobody. That's why you have to separate good and bad from what you like - IF you're going to talk about what's good and bad about movies. And that is my insight. I thought about it, there is intelligence, and a whole lot of TRUTH inside it. You can say what you want about it- but you can't tell me I'm wrong. That's like pointing at the day and saying it's night. It's not night, it's day.

Watching Harvey Korman, Carol Burnette, Vicki Lawrence, and the GREAT Tim Conway work together is some of the best television I've ever seen. I can't believe I forgot about The Muppet Show! That was also some really great television. It definitely would have made my list if I had thought of it.

^^^ Oh man, can't believe I forgot about Oz. Definitely one of my favorite HBO series. For me, it's tied with The Sopranos and second to my favorite, Deadwood. Always wanted to see Deadwood... Still waiting for re-runs on SOME non-pay channel. Damn it. Why does crap like The Sopranos and Desperate Housewives end up on cheap, non-pay channels and Deadwood, that might be good... Seriously, I don't know why Deadwood hasn't been picked up by someone like USA or something. laz you have no idea what the hell your talking about.. I disagree. ;D i have seen prob more movies then any critic.. Come on, are you telling me you're as old as most of these critics? There is just something to be said for experience. They've had more time to see more movies than you have. Plus, do you know every critic personally? How do you know you've seen more movies than any critic? I'm still talking about critics in general. I never said I knew any of them personally. I just know what it takes to be a critic. Not because I'm a great critic myself. Because I wouldn't defend critics without knowing whether or not they take themselves seriously, and why. Yeah I know a lot of critics are stuffy, upturned nose, pompous types. But that's the only reason people don't like them. It doesn't mean their wrong. But then, there are also critics who are just like us. Inside. And they don't act like the Stereotype that gets perpetuated all the time. You have to separate the hype from the product in everything related to movies. The same goes with all aspects of the movie business. Including the critics and fans. ..any1 can pick apart a movie and say what they liked and didnt like..its not like you have to have the "critic" label to do so.. Of course. But I never said that they do have to. Just that if you want to know something about movies, you have to learn technique. You have to be able to separate what you like and dislike from the movie. Most real critics can do that. But yeah, critics are like anyone else. They can be wrong- we're all wrong from time to time. I was wrong about The Howling when I first saw it, several years ago, I thought it was bad. But that was because I didn't get it. Some movies are not made for some people. But I learned to put what I think aside, and look at it for what it really was. Now, not only do I see what's good about it... But I like some of it too. So stop telling me I remove the fun out of watching a movie. I do have fun watching movies. And "being a critic," if that's what you think I am. Don't tell me I don't have fun. I'm here to tell you, I do. i watch a movie for fun and entertainment Old news. Movies are more than just fun and entertainment. Games are for just fun and entertainment. Sex (should always be) for just fun and entertainment. To say that movies are just fun and entertainment is to Not Understand All That They Are. They're art, sometimes they're serious, and they always enrich our lives. They are often an important part of our lives. In fact- if movies were just fun and entertainment... nobody would make them. Making a movie is hard work. Sometimes, it can put an unbelievable amount of stress upon a movie maker. Anyway... I respect critics because they often have a great understanding of the quality that can go into a movie. They don't always get it the first time around. They're like any one of us, re-viewing sometimes shows them things they didn't see the first time. ..im sure most critics dont like there job.. You think you're sure. But everything you've been saying so far signals that you don't know as much about critics as you think. Wow! That means You can get paid for doing the same thing they do. Why don't You have that job?? I mean, you know, if just anyone can do it. Not just anyone can be a critic. So therefore, the money is clearly not the only reason. ..stop acting like "critics" know or see more..because they dont.. T, it's a case-by-case basis. Sometimes critics are wrong. But overall, they are trained to know a little more than the rest of us. When a movie does something wrong, the critic is often trained to know what that is. Right from the making of the movie, on set. They can see sometimes the actor is wrong, the writer is wrong, the director is wrong. Something is too much, not enough... Do you think you know all that?? How? Where were you trained? How long do you study? How much do you think you see?

Why does crap like The Sopranos and Desperate Housewives end up on cheap, non-pay channels and Deadwood, that might be good... Seriously, I don't know why Deadwood hasn't been picked up by someone like USA or something. Yeah, you should check it out sometime. From top to bottom, it's some of the best pure acting I've ever seen. And the depiction of the time period is painstakingly spot on. It's just really well done. I don't think you'll be seeing it on cable anytime soon, as there's still an ongoing standoff between HBO and David Milch as to getting the three 2-hour movies done to end the series. Whether that'll ever happen is anyones' guess at this point, but Milch has said that he won't sign off on syndication rights until HBO ponies up the budget he wants to end the series. Not the biggest loss though, as I think the series would definitely suffer from being edited down for commercial television viewing. Seasons 1 - 3 are available on DVD though, so you might be able to find them for renting somewhere if you really want to check it out. I'd give you some links to active torrent files, but I know you're not into that.
