The original will always be better. It tackled issues that needed to be tackled and had relevance to Vietnam-era America. This new one is just a shitty flick about girls being tortured and the parents taking revenge. What the fuck does that have to do with American society, other than further pandering to the Vigilante Masses of Lucky-Straight White Middle-America?

T, 99% of all new horror films are just action thrillers.
In the 90's, didn't you watch movies like: Se7en, In the Line of Fire, Internal Affairs, Kiss the Girls, Speed, Basic Instinct, Copycat, and movies like those?? That's what 99% of horror movies made today look and feel like.
That's what I mean, T, when I told you I know when a horror movie is going to suck based off the trailer and the tv spots. I've seen the trailers and tv ads for Last House on the Left and there isn't anything in the movie that isn't just like what I just described up there. It all looks the same as Wrong Turn, Eden Lake, Texas Chainsaw '03, Hills Have Eyes '05, etc.
If it can't even be different than the movies that we already have... how do you THINK it could possibly be any good?

well ill agree with you that 99% of THEATER released horror movies are action thrillers with some horror elements, but that doesnt mean they cant be good, last house looks like a thriller but it also looks good

Yeah, it could be a nasty thriller. But nasty thrillers are usually boring. Horror films, even the bad ones, keep me awake and are worth seeing. I don't want to see horror films caving into action thriller cliches.
Oh, and T - you have to tell me the name of those horror boxsets the Brain Damage (??) films are on. I just had the idea a couple days ago to search for it thru Netflix. Renting is the easiest way.
