..........or has mainstream horror officially gone completely to hell?? Now, the big studios have definitely not been cranking out anything that resembles a masterpiece over the previous 5 years or so, but there were at least a few that made me say "Hmm, I'll check that out when it comes out on DVD." But seriously, over the past year I can't really even think of ONE that remotely looked intriguing to watch EVER. Everything coming out now seems to fit 1 of 3 categories: 1. Remake crap 2. Shock/torture crap 3. PG-13 "scare the preteens" crap And the sad thing is, the pre-teen/teenage crowd seems to be eating this garbage up like it's worth the 9.50 it costs to see it. Friggin' pathetic. I am sooooo tired of hearing some 13 year old myspace freak go on and on about how great the remake of Black Christmas is, lol. Im sitting there thinking, "NO, the original was good horror. THIS is utter trash!" And the sad thing is, these teeny-bop wastoids don't even know that it's a remake! Arrrrrrgh, sorry to go on such a rant, but I'm so frustrated with horror these days I had to get that off my chest. Somebody save mainstream horror, and fast!

yea all of the mainstream movies pretty much fall into the 3 categories you named, which is why i usually just go for the straight to dvd stuff, you can find the same stuff you get in the theaters for much cheaper, plus you to get some real good original movies sometimes
one mainstream movie tho that deserves to be mentioned is house of wax, many people overlooked it i tihnk cuz it had paris hilton in it and it just looked like all the other crap coming out, going into the movie i expected nothing more then the same old shit, but i was VERY surprised after seeing it that it turned out to be a very good horror movie, it had good atmosphere, had some creepy moments, good gore and it was just a overall well made movie, im actually in the mood to see it again, i think i might order it, it cant be more then 8-10$ now

these teeny-bop wastoids don't even know that it's a remake! And another thing: they never get the hell off my lawn! Durn whippersnappers! I completely agree, though. Rather than spending any reasonable amount of money on things like a script, they just seem to be going for blood and boobs. Then they get to make an "unrated" version that hints to those teenies that maybe, just maybe, they'll get to see something more (they won't) which makes the movie sell not once but twice. Win-win if you're in the studios I guess, but dammit someday they're going to run out of crap to remake, and these teenies will be grown up too. What then? Remakes of Hostel? Ah, dammit. It's gonna be remakes of Hostel.

Well I am going out on a limb and saying that some remakes have surpassed the first one. Like Prom Night, Friday the 13th and ... Oh Crap!

In fact I think me and you talked about that movie being underrated before at some point in the past. I only watched it because I wanted to see Ms. Hilton hacked to pieces, but was pleasantly surprised at how good the rest of the movie was. I'd definitely pick it up someday if I see it in a bargain bin. Then they get to make an "unrated" version that hints to those teenies that maybe, just maybe, they'll get to see something more (they won't) which makes the movie sell not once but twice. Hahaha I know, I laugh my ass off everytime I see the "unrated" version DVD's advertised on tv..........as if there was a secret "snuff" scene that was cut at the last minute by the studio, lol. I've also noticed this stupid advertising gimmick applied to comedies coming out on DVD as well.............I guess most people are just f'ing dumb.

Arrrrrrgh, sorry to go on such a rant, but I'm so frustrated with horror these days I had to get that off my chest. Somebody save mainstream horror, and fast! Plus, most of these people you're talking about are complete "fucktards" in the theater. They don't pay attention, they talk on their cellphones or "Blackberry"s, they yell at each other or to friends sitting in groups in front of or behind them, they throw things, and if any adults come- they bring their kids with them. The only people who can afford to go don't give a flying fuck what they're doing. They get to do whatever they want to because they have the money to waste. I was talking about this exact same thing with someone at the Disney board. How there are groups of people who go to Disney World because Disney is a part of their childhood and they have a passion for it, they love it, and it's really important to them to really experience it. But there are also groups of like, teenage girls who go because they've got nothing better to do and they can afford to go, then when they do they just scream and yell and disturb everyone by being loud and talking about things that have nothing to do with Disney like there's no one around them. They just basically want to party with a group of their friends - it doesn't matter where to them. It's basically: Crowd Waste. The people who can afford to mass are just waste. They do nothing constructive, they have no purpose. They're just Massive Waste in Crowd-form.

yea when i saw friday the 13th the theater was packed, mostly by teenagers tho that wouldnt shutup throughout the whole movie, there was this black guy sitting behind me who seriously would not shutup throughout the whole movie, he had a comment for EVERYTHING, it was hard for me not to turn around and smack the black off of him and then smack his ugly little white girlfriend, just for being with him

Even though I might be disappointed, I'll probably end up going to see that movie while it's in theaters. I've never seen Jason on the big screen in a movie theater so that alone would probably be worth my while. But yea, I'm hoping its not full of tween-agers who, probably should not have been admitted to see it in the first place, lol. Oh well, if it is, then I guess I'll just have to do a little "regulating" on their dumbasses..........That's usually pretty entertaining anyways, lol!

I say - forget it on both accounts. You've no chance of seeing any movie aimed at teenagers without getting the same crap T's talking about. And seeing someone in a "Jason" costume doesn't mean you're seeing the real thing. Not AT LEAST until they get his look right.
And T - your comments as usual, are racist as hell.

its racist that i said a black guy was sitting behind me and being loud??, since when is noting someones skin color racist, if he was white i would have wanted to slap the white off of him, it makes no difference

T - you don't get it. You'll never get it.
Oh and, if it were a white person- you would never have thought about the color of their skin. So don't lie to me.
For once, just admit something instead of always denying everything. Have a backbone!

Okay, I believe you. I'm just saying that nobody really wants to hear racists comments. So if you're not a racist, don't talk like one.

i just dislike most people in general, it has nothing to do with there skin color, race, what they believe in, or anything like that, i say what i feel and dont really care what anyone thinks about it

i just dislike most people in general T, you're preaching to the converted choir. If you think I actually LIKE most people just because I don't like hearing hateful comments - you're nuts. I hate the human race way more than you do. I just don't see the need to pick out their race, gender, body type, and other arbitrary traits to use against them. That would be completely beside the point. i say what i feel and dont really care what anyone thinks about it I hear you and I don't buy it.

well every person does things there own way, if you dont like what i say about people ignore it, if you really hate the entire human race then join in

If you finally go about criticizing people for constructive, honest, smart reasons - I will.
But criticizing people for being "fat," or being black, etc., is just plain stupid. In short, you are part of the reason I don't like people to begin with. You shit on people just for the hell of it. I don't say anything bad about someone unless they damn well deserve it.
And that's the way everyone should be. Treat other people the way you want to be treated unless they start with you.
