Has anybody heard about Oliver Stone's upcoming biopic of the bush administration? If you haven't you have now and you will many times in the future. It will be very controversial. The casting is a bit odd though. Josh Brolin plays Bush and Richard Dreyfuss plays Cheney. It is currently filming right now.

Good. After that 9-11 movie, Oliver Stone needs to get his edge back.
I'm sure a guy who's been directing "legitimate" Hollywood movies for over 2 decades knows what he's doing with casting. We'll probably just have to wait to see what he looks like in full "Costume." Nightwatch proves that Brolin knows how to be intense. And playing a guy like that will probably leave Brolin with a lot of personal demons.
This will indeed be a very interesting project and movie. I'll wait for the reviews, naturally, before I watch it.

yeah, i think it sounds worth seeing too. i just hope people come out of the theater thinking. it would be disappointing if all it said was bush is dumb and wasn't anymore biting than that.

If it did, it would fit in with the enormous list of actors/musicians that are all of a sudden authorities on the subject.

Well remember, Mal, The President of the United States of America (regardless of what forces or groups thrust the current one into that position) is probably the single most recognizable figure in the entire world. It sounds arrogant to say as an American myself, but it's true. People who are seen as much as most politically-minded celebrities are expected to talk about other highly visible figures.
And then of course there's the issue of how big a moron Bush is and how much his administration is fucking and has fucked up America.
It's not going to be a problem.

Obama is an incredibly intelligent man. Which is sure as hell more than I can say for Dubya. He just might not be the right guy to be America's next President. He seems to have too much of a conscience. I don't want to seem to become President (I KNOW! In our Dreams! America is way too racist to ever have the majority choose a non-white President) just to be torn down by the evil clowns in the conservative media. Not to mention potential assassins.
And not to mention all the dumb pieces of worthless shit on the internet who are allowed to say whatever idiotic thing that crosses their head. The bloggers and so on, so forth.

it IS hard to fathom that americans would vote for a black person for president, but i think they will because the alternative candidate is so bad. although you have to remember that we as american people DO NOT really decide who becomes president. need i remind anyone of the bush/gore race?

Of course, that's true of the Bush administration. But that's because that Katherine woman in Florida who controlled the voting numbers and that guy who was governer of Florida had connections to the Bush family. I don't know who was the final authority in fixing the exit polls (in Ohio, I believe) in '04, but I have to believe that one day, after we've had ENOUGH fishy cases of electronic vote-tampering in Presidential Elections... there will be some committee or something set up to monitor the people counting votes. Or something.
One day, these people will fuck up. And like Watergate, someone's going down in flames. This current age of psychotically invasive technology has to penetrate both sides of the mirror at some point.

There wasn't much choice last election. Obama has a lot more personality than "Easter Island-Head" Kerry. As long as his running mate isn't Hilary, he would probably get my vote.
But if McCain's running mate is Giullianni instead of Huckabee, it would be tougher for me to vote.

But if McCain's running mate is Giullianni instead of Huckabee, it would be tougher for me to vote. If McCain's running mate is Huckabee and he gets "officially elected" in '08, America is dead. Bag it, tag it, stick it in a box, and bury it. We iz finished - if that happens.

Let me rephrase. I've heard that Huckabee is uber-religious and has some crazy thoughts of his own. I don't care for him at all.
I've said before that I enjoy following your politics(bits and pieces). I also had to work Canada Day so I wasn't in a big celebratory mood. Had a few brews after work though...

Yeah he is Uber-religious. Just like his buddy Chuck Norris. And they want to take all American freedoms away and replace them with their fanatical religious ideals. Sure it'll take them awhile to do it. But McCain is so freaking old, he couldn't stop them if he wanted to. And I'm sure he's already looking to get revenge on Ellen Degeneres for putting him on-the-spot on the gay marriage issue on her show.
