game stores are selling all ps2 games for cheap now (trying to get rid of em) and i bought one at gamestop yesterday. "escape from monkey island" is the name. i love it. one of the funniest and most involving games i've played. i'm not finished yet though.

If any of you haven't, buy Scarface: The World is Yours. You can get it for 20 bucks now, and it is well worth it. It's one of my favorite games of all time.

that looked kinda like a watered-down version of Vice City.

It's a lot different than Vice City, and it's a lot more fun.

The one PS2 game I've wanted for a long time, and have been waiting for the price to drop is Trapt. I'll probably end up buying it used, like I did the other 3 games in the series. This time hopefully before used copies shoot up in price.

Trapt sounds neat.
And yes, Scarface is a watered-down GTA with a good music selection.

The whole deception series is pretty awesome. The first one is one of the darkest games I've played, even if the story is kind of hokey. Not many games force you to sell your soul to Satan, lure people to the mansion he gives you, and then systematically murder them as sacrifices to him in order to advance. It does have multiple endings, and you can choose to redeem yourself. I guess this isn't all that shocking to Japanese people though since culturally, Satan is about as relevant to them as Zeus, and Hercules. I'm just surprised the translators didn't change it around for the North American market. I mean it's kind of an obscure series, but I did rent part 1 from Blockbuster, so it wasn't that obscure.
2 tones the story down a bit, but the plot is really incoherent. This time your character is a chick who was raised from birth to lure, and trap humans. She was adopted by what is supposed to be Elf-like creatures I think. As it progresses, she does turn against the forces of evil, though again the story isn't linear, so you can still remain bad if you want. 2 also improves the graphics, (it's still a PS1 game though) and makes game play a little more innovative--you get to design your own traps this time around. I played 1 first and loved it, but after playing this one it's hard to go back to 1 again, because it just feels clunky in comparison.
3 is fun, but it's just a rehash of 2. The graphics are slightly better--probably on par with all but the best of the first wave of PS2 games. The story is a little more coherent (but still ridiculous) too, and this time you basically are a good person, who is forced to do some bad things. Trapt's plot sounds like it's most similar to this one, though in Trapt you are supposed to be cursed, while in Deception 3 it's more like trapping is an addiction.
Anyone who liked Manhunt would probably like this series. It's not bloody, or realistic though. Just extremely brutal.

trapt seems like the kind of game where the story doesnt matter, as long as the traps are fun and rewarding i could care less if it even has a story

Just finished the main quest in Oblivion. My final rating is.... 8/10
Minus points for lack of cut-scenes,bosses,getting stuck countless times(either your character or the game itself freezes), and the menus for your inventory/buying stuff at the store suck balls. There is no page-down button so sometimes you have to keep pressing DOWN for like 2 minutes to get to what you want. It also doesn't show the amount you already have in your inventory so you could end up buying shit you don't need.
Has anyone seen any screen shots for Fallout 3 yet? It's made by the same company as Oblivion and has a post-apocalyptic setting. This will probably tide me over until FF 13.

Gran Turismo 4. I'd played this one before. My ex GF's son loved racing games, so I bought him this one for his birthday once. I ended up really liking it myself though, so I finally bought myself a cheap, used copy. Unfortunately I'm having to relearn it, because I suck at it now.
Final Fantasy X. I've owned this since it came out, and I replay it every now and then. I'm not really playing a new game though. I started out, ready to fight Sin. This time I'm trying to max everything out--including my Blitz Ball team--and hopefully defeat all the Dark Aeons. Blitz Ball is actually pretty addictive--I like it almost as much as Triple Triad from FF VIII.

FF X. I sold most of my PS2 games but still held onto that one. My favorite fight was against the main character's dad near the end of the game.
So it looks like XBOX is getting FF13 at the same time as PS3 users get it. This really pisses me off to no end! FF7 and up were always PS exclusives. Same as Halo and XBOX. It's like Microsoft can share in everything but still have a few XBOX exclusive games that are decent and should be on other systems. Does anyone agree or should I just go change my pad already?

Did you ever try the Dark Aeons? Dark Anima, Yojimbo, and Magus Sisters are supposed to be very, very hard. Hell, the Omega Ruins, and the monster arena battles are tougher than Sin. I always thought that was kind of dumb that Sin is supposed to be the scourge of Spira, but he basically can't kill you, while Cactaur King can wipe his ass with your entire, maxed out party without blinking. Sin is a really fun battle though.
You should give FFXI a try someday. No other FF has battles like the endgame stuff in XI. FFXII was really just a watered down, but prettier, offline version of it. The storylines are typically good like you expect from FF--this is the only FF with five different stories too, and to my knowledge the only MMO with a storyline period.

To my knowledge, I wiped the floor with the Dark Aeons but agree that Cactuar King is one huge pain in the ass.
Is there a solo campaign in FF11 or is it all online, multiplayer crap?

It's all online. I did solo my way to level cap (lvl 75) on beast master though. The last I played--taking a break now--I was soloing black mage. You could probably solo every job to 75, some would just take forever. The story missions have some solo parts, but the major battles are all group oriented.
It's not like a multiplayer FPS or even WoW. There's very little pvp in it. FFXI is largely about teamwork, so you end up with a more mature, competent playerbase than other online games have.
