It's getting really close to 2008, so I thought I'd ask you all...what is the best overall movie of 2007?
Personally, I don't have one. There were a lot of good ones, and ones that are supposed to be great but I havent' seen yet.

Grindhouse
The theatrical cut of the whole thing was just a blast and fucking amazing.

Grindhouse sounds interesting, but I heard "Death Proof" was a dissapointment to many. "Planet Terror" sounds fun, though.

As far as mainstream goes, I agree with Vinny. The theatrical cut of Grindhouse took many people(myself included) to a different visual experience that we have missed out on since the 70's/early 80's. Whoever decided to split the film up into two parts is a goof and should be shot. (Enough of special/ultimate/unrated/director's cut editions of films, I say!)
p.s I was really not fond of Death Proof. Decent story but the 20-minute long dialogues gave me a migraine and a feeling of leaving the theatre. Tarantino is quite smart and writes great lines but I really don't want to hear a 20-minute scene of verbal jabbing from some broads or gangsters, for that matter!

*clears throat*
Hairspray ;D
Enchanted comes in a close second, and I haven't seen Juno yet, but I'm pretty sure it's gonna come in 3rd.

*clears throat* Hairspray ;D Lol, can't say I'm too surprised by that pick Miss May! I will say though, I did watch it finally a couple weeks ago with my sister and the girlfriend, and it was pretty darn good! (although I swore both of them to secrecy as far as telling anyone this!) Anyways, as for my pick, I'm not sure. I believe I'll have to think on it for awhile and get back to you guys.............

I wasn't really impressed by anything that's come out this year.
But I can be hard to please and have little faith in mainstream movies anymore.

Since I got nothing better to do, I figured I'd do my Top Ten of 2007 (so far)...
1. Grindhouse 2. Zodiac - Nice to see David Fincher back finally. 3. Transformers - I loved it, and I am a unashamed Michael Bay fan...With the exceptions of Bad Boys II and Pearl Harbor, I have dug all his movies. 4. The Mist - The BEST straight-up Horror film of 2007 which a gut-punch of an ending. 5. Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters - Love the show and loved the movie. 6. The Simpsons Movie - Same reason as above. 7. Superbad - It was damn funny, I don't need to say more. 8. Hot Fuzz - I don't know anyone who didn't love this. 9. Shoot'Em Up - A blast, it would make a perfect movie marathon with Running Scared, Crank, and Smokin' Aces. 10. 28 Weeks Later - Superior to the first in almost every way.
HONORABLE MENTIONS: Knocked Up, Futurama: Bender's Big Score, 1408, Dead Silence, Disturbia, Flight Of The Living Dead, Hostel: Part II, Welcome To The Jungle, Vacancy, and Wrong Turn 2.

vincentprice, you mentioned "Flight of the Living Dead". I wasn't sure if it would be good or not, so I haven't watched it yet. What's it like?

How about Transformers? Gi-normous budget aside, it had cool efx, decent story, characters, music, fight scenes,humour,etc... Some boobs would be nice but... you can't have everything!

vincentprice, you mentioned "Flight of the Living Dead". I wasn't sure if it would be good or not, so I haven't watched it yet. What's it like? It's goofy and pretty dumb but I liked it, it was never boring and they didn't rely on CGI too much. And the gore is alright, it's just a lot better than I expected and they seemed to have a sense of humor about the kind of movie they were making.

4. The Mist - The BEST straight-up Horror film of 2007 which a gut-punch of an ending. That comes out on DVD in March, I believe. Haven't seen it yet, but I am buying it very soon after it comes out. Heard a lot of good things about it.
