Well, who is asking you to like them? Who is asking you to like anyone? How can I like a people who consistently steals, tortures and kill mine? That's like asking a Jew why they don't like hitler

Your what? No wait, actually I don't care.
When I was growing up, one of those thieving, murdering, New York born, "sub-human" Jews you seem to hate, was a very close friend of my family. He was one of the nicest, most generous, and thoughtful people I've ever known. I consider myself fortunant to have known him. He was certainly a better human being than you will ever be.
Now fu*k off Adolf. Go hang from a tree or something.

I never laugh at movies like those. They're too smart for me. But I always see how smart they are and my brain tingles anyway. So, yeah I love Election. A true classic. I'll not vote for her for Class President, any day of the week.

I liked Tammy Metzler the bestest. "Who cares about this stupid election?! We all know it doesn't matter who gets elected president of Carver. Do you really think it's going to change anything around here; make one single person smarter or happier or nicer? The only person it does matter to is the one who gets elected. The same pathetic charade happens every year, and everyone makes the same pathetic promises just so they can put it on their transcripts to get into college. So vote for me, because I don't even want to go to college, and I don't care, and as president I won't do anything. The only promise I will make is that if elected I will immediately dismantle the student government, so that none of us will ever have to sit through one of these stupid assemblies again!!"

I loved this movie because it exposes "goody-goodies" like Tracy Flick for who they really are. I imagine most Republicans being just like her when they were in high school................

Unfortunately I haven't seen election, although, sounds fairly interesting so I may get around to it sometime. Recently I saw Mr. Brooks, was a very good thriller IMO. Kevin Costner in particular really stood out as a serial killer. So, really recommend that and I hope to see Sunshine soon, anyone know if it's any good?

I loved this movie because it exposes "goody-goodies" like Tracy Flick for who they really are. I imagine most Republicans being just like her when they were in high school........ Exactly what I was thinking. Except, they're never quite as isolated as she was. She was more a Republican in a mainly Democrat-centered place. She operated under a real alias, a mask of sanity. And a fragile ideal of what reality was. She was a lot like a grown-up child - people will protect her idea of reality because it's a very moral-faced one. She makes herself look very innocent, when the system she functions in is one where even she cheats, and does her dirty work in secret. But when dirty is done to her, how it's handled is very public. But in a way... Tammy got exactly what she wanted. And Paul didn't care what he got, he could make lemonaide out of the most rotten, festering lemons on Earth. And Mr. McAllister... well... he was a pig. So, he was sort of the face of the equally dispicable Democrat. If..one could (or would want to) call him that. Sometimes, God (apparently) lets the more morally criminal individuals see the face of evil. And the rest of us have to forget how wrong what he or she has done and trust them anyway. Which is why... I feel like the Republican ideal of throwing away (or institutionalizing, incarcerating, etc.) every person with a criminal past... is kind of wrong. They can go on to be the best redeemed people of all. Though, offhand...I couldn't possibly provide any examples. ;D

Got my last 3 (from Monday) ordered movies in the mail. Watched 2 of them. Bones (2001) - surprisingly quite good. The acting is uniformly above average, the writing is adequate, and it is very stylish. Basically, don't look at the cover, cynically say "Snoop Dogg," then walk away. This is what the House on Haunted Hill remake should have been. And in fact, with some Fulci-ish elements here (though Fulci was a consommate rip-off artist, he just took from Bava's gothic sensibilities), this film tops Fulci too by inventing much more interesting lore for a Necropolis setting (a city of the living dead that co-exists with our world and makes dead souls evil), and just being able to direct a better scene of exposition story-telling. There are naturally a few problems. The gothic-horror mixes unevenly with the blaxploitation / western elements necessary to get Snoop Dogg and Pam Grier's romantic characters to fit in with the film. The CGI is used in too many scenes of horror and does hurt the scare-quality of the horror scenes. The ending gets stupider and stupider as it comes to the final, ridiculous cheat of a finale. The humor in the second part of the film is completely awkward and doesn't fit. And the Necropolis world doesn't have the right visual punch to it. Part of it is too gross, part of it is too colorized, part of it looks like stuff better seen in Society or Nightmare on Elm Street part 4. But overall, it's worth watching at least once. And there are several scenes that are masterfully done. Especially the club scenes with the maggots and the "Dog Lady." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Cat's Eye (1985) - first off, I'll just state the movie's flaw and let that be that: this was almost a perfect psychological horror-thriller. It was exciting, shocking, intense, with really dark humor, and strange. It had everything. And did everything right. But, it's an anthology, and in this film's case - one of the tales sunk the ship. The 3rd one did the trick, about Drew Barrymore being stalked by a troll living in the wall of her bedroom. It just plain stunk. The troll was too humorous at first, when we didn't see it's face, and was voiced by the guy who did Slimer on The Real Ghostbusters cartoon. Any of you remember that? Well, if you hear that voice clearly, you're never going to be scared or intimidated by the creature once you see it. Then, when they show it, it's stupid looking. Very stupid-looking. Then you have Drew Barrymore, not the best child actor out there, and Candy Clark, who was equally smelly in Q the Winged Serpent, which would have been a perfect movie too if not for her. It just doesn't work. The other two stories, however, were perfect. The first, "Quitters Inc." with James Woods, was just incredible. Fascinating, highly disturbing, and utterly hilarious. This was a story The Twilight Zone would have killed for. I won't spoil anything else about it and just say, it's worth seeing just for this part. The second story was the ultimate reincarnation of pure-Hitchc ockian suspense. A man, under circumstances best discovered while watching the movie, is forced to walk the very narrow ledge all the way around a tall hotel building while dealing with high winds, pecking pigeons, and a man he was warned was "very dangerous," but not told how completely insane he was as well.

I remember as a kid, the troll in the third Cat's Eye segment scared me really bad, but looking back on it now it was kind of stupid looking. ;D Likewise, Quitters Inc. never scared me before but watching it now as an adult it is indeed the most creepy.

I always liked the troll, but it is the weakest of the three.
I agree with May too. I appreciate Quitters Inc more, now that I'm an adult. I also happen to be trying to quit smoking too, which would make it seem even better to me atm.

Wolfen (1981) - well... This was every bit as amazing as Evil Dave seemed to signal it was. Of course, though, I have problems with it (naturally). I didn't like the fact that some of the killings didn't fit the logic pattern the movie came up with at the end, the music score was too old fashioned and screeching, and that scene with the naked bridge-worker guy was just plain dumb.
