This thread is the place to jump for jubilant joy at upcoming DVD releases (not just the horror ones) that you are absolutely bouncing off the walls with excitement over. ;D Here's a few that are testing MY patience:
SEPTEMBER 18, 2007: -Family Guy Vol. 5 -Flashdance: Special Collector's Edition (with a free CD!!!) -Selena: 10th Anniversary 2 Disc Edition (I adore this film but have been putting off buying the barebones DVD because it came in a cardboard snapper. Now I'm happy I held out! ;D )
SETEMBER 25, 2007: -Cujo: 25th Anniversary Edition (In widescreen!) -Night Of The Demons 2 -The Princess and the Goblin (yet another childhood favorite)
OCTOBER 2, 2007: -The Secret World of Alex Mack: The Complete 1st Season (WHOO HOO!) -The Year Without A Santa Clause: Deluxe Edition -1408
OCTOBER 23, 2007: -A Clockwork Orange: 2 Disc Special Edition
And finally, we have Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End arriving in stores on December 4th!!! ;D

The only one I'm really looking forward to is the "Clockwork Orange" 2-disc edition. It's about time!

^Definitely. That was another one I held off on buying because damn if I'm going to buy a DVD that comes in a snapper. I'm kinda anal about my DVDs that way, lol. ;D But 2 discs...that's freaking awesome. I am so there.

Why wait, when you can download!? And yes, you can still get the interactive menus, director's commentary, special features, etc. You just have to know where to look!

I'm looking forward to the Black Sheep DVD in October. Haven't seen it yet, but I've heard good things. Also, the Return of the Living Dead Collector's Edition.

Right now, I'm waiting for a lot of the new releases to drop in price. With Warner Bros. though... that often means a long wait.

Looking forward enormously to the DVD release of Hairspray on November 20. ;D ;D ;D ;D Assuming you are the resident expert on such, how was the remake anyways? I found a clip of Michelle Pfeiffer singing the Miss Baltimore Crabs song and it looked pretty funny actually.

It was awesome! I don't really consider it a remake as much as a new adaptation (much like how I don;t consider Charlie and the Chocolate Factory a remake either). Having seen the original Broadway cast back in '02, I was a little nervous about how some of the actors would do (particularly Michelle Pfeiffer and Amanda Bynes) but everyone did fine. It was easily my favorite movie this year.

I'm kind of a fan of the John Waters movie, it's definitely one of his best. I really can't accept any other version of the movie, considering the movie is the original version of it. The fact that they made it a musical... just seems wrong to me for some reason. Everyone takes someone else's idea and changes it. I get so sick and tired of it. Musical or not.
But whatever. I'll just say- Divine died right after making the movie. If there would be any way for him to say he liked the musical, I could forgive it. But he also died really young and kind of mysteriously- no one saw it coming. So, it does matter. A person's life should be worth something. As it stands now, I just don't like musicals. So Hairpspray was an edgy, underaged, bi-racial Dirty Dancing. That's my kind of musical. Dancing to already-established songs.
Unless it's pure genius, like The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

It was easily my favorite movie this year. Cool, thanks for the info. ;D I liked the original a lot so I've been meaning to check this one out for a while now. I put it off originally 'cuz I can't stand Amanda Bynes or John Travolta, but I do love Michelle Pfeiffer and Britney Snow, so maybe it'll cancel itself out. I'll deff give it a watch now though. Also, I completely agree with your view on remakes. Your example of Charlie & the Choc. Factory is spot on. I don't consider movies like that a remake either. Like you said, they're more adaptations based on the original storyline.

I've heard there's a Special Edition of Pumpkinhead coming up next year or soon... I really hope so. I was actually about to order the MGM fullscreen DVD last month. I'm not crazy about fullscreen myself, obviously, but I want to own that damn DVD already. So... this is great news. Even in theory.
