yeah the writing did suck and to me that is most important. i WILL give credit to the first one for having great savini effects and for that brilliant scene where jason jumps outta the water. oh yah and for brutally killing kevin bacon!

We've talked about our favorite ones... how about "Which is the shittiest Jason film?"
Jason X is taking this award home.

It was a movie made for fans, not for critics who pick apart every little detail. It is a FUN horror movie. Whatever it was, it is friggin Gandhi compared to Jason X or Wes Craven's New Nightmare. "Scotty's on fire..."

Freddy VS. Jason is a disappointment.
- Bad acting - Jason looks terrible - Inconclusive ending - Boring lead girl - Fight scenes are too short - Freddy only got to kill one person, and it was CGI - Speaking of CGI, it looked very fake - Jason IS NOT AFRAID OF WATER - Way too many instinces of people being thrown great distances to the point where it becomes laughable

No it's not. It's a piece of shit suckfest. It was a movie made for fans Fans of WHAT? I was a fan of the Friday the 13th series, did I get anything about of FvJ? NO! I was a casual fan of the Nightmare on Elm Street series. Did I get anything out of FvJ? NO! What are you going to say now? not for critics who pick apart every little detail. Yeah, sure. It is a FUN horror movie. No it wasn't. It was fucking stupid, insulting, annoying, and poorly made in almost every single regard. Whatever it was, it is friggin Gandhi compared to Jason X or Wes Craven's New Nightmare. No it wasn't. New Nightmare may be overrated but it's a million times better than FvJ!!

I agree that Jason looked like shit. The fight scene between the 2 of them kicked ass at the end. I hate wire-work in movies so I'll agree that there was too much flying around shit. Pretty much all CGI looks like shit and can be busted apart. The lead girl was eye-candy and nothing more. Bad acting is pretty much a constant throughout these franchises so...

The acting was pretty good in Nightmare 1 and 2, good in F13 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, pretty good in 7, and very good in 8 and 9.

I'll concur on all the Friday's except 6. Thom Matthews stunk as Tommy Jarvis.
To be honest, comparing F vs J to all the NIghtmares and Fridays is silly. It is a bone tossed to the fans and that's all. Give it a little credit for at least having the balls to put a concept together that a TON of fans have thought about.
Honestly, I believe that Horror is being more hurt today by Asian-ghost story-stealing and remakes galore than by campy-fun stuff like this. I think we all have missed out on the theater experience of watching these films so it was very cool when I seen F vs J on the big screen. Not scary but fun all the same...

To be honest, comparing F vs J to all the Nightmares and Fridays is silly. It is a bone tossed to the fans and that's all. I kind of agree. I mean, Freddy Vs. Jason wasn't made for anyone I know who is a true fan of the original movies. It's crap - so who it was really made for are the dumb fucking idiots who shell out money to see remakes and crap like that. But what I agree with is that we shouldn't compare it to the earlier Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street movies. Because it's a whole other style. And that's why the Friday and Nightmare movies will always be superior. ;D

I don't know what it made at the box office but I am sure that a lot of that revenue was due to the fans. When I went, being the "dumb fucking idiot" that I am, the theater was full of older fans, not just turned 18 year olds who would watch anything with some blood. We agree on some bad points of the film but I think that we have both seen much, much worse.

When I went to see FVJ, there actually weren't a ton of younger people.
The same thing happened with Rob Zombie's Halloween. Most of the audience were in their 30's, 40's, and 50's.

I don't totally despise FvJ, because I knew from the start it would be crap. I knew it back in the 5th grade when I first started hearing people discuss it, that it would be crap. I was able to enjoy it for what it was due to this brilliant insight on my part, along with the fact that I downloaded it off BT a few days before it hit theaters. I'll say it's worse than Jason X, but at the same time far more watchable.
AvP on the other hand...makes me violently angry.

Agreed. A great concept that could have been incredible turned into a watered-down, half-assed piece of POO.

Well you know, if it had been made in the 1990's - when they first came up with the idea, I think it might have been great! Ronny Yu's Bride of Chucky was amazing and if he had made FvJ right after or right before... Sky would have been the limit.
But coming out in the new millennium was a huge mistake. That dictated exactly how stupid it would be, exactly what the music would sound like, the amount of CGI that would be in it, the bad storylines, the fact that the behavior of the victims made them look like people of Kindgergarten-I.Q.'s compared to the victims in the original Friday the 13th films!!!
Jason X is a bad looking movie. In my opinion, the look and the sci-fi stuff is completely what makes it a movie no one wants to watch. But it sure as hell is better made than Freddy Vs. Jason.
